    Default Freedom Pass for veterans.

Free Access for Vets Takes effect on Veterans day. I'm assuming this applies year round but the announcement is clear as mud.

This is a major benefit for all Vets, especially with the park entrance fees at $35 right now. We already have Access Passes so it doesn't affect us. But millions of vets deserve this benefit.

A few years ago there was an offer for a senior life time pass to National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands for people 62 and older. I think at the time I paid $20.00 for the pass. I wasn't sure how much I would use it, but for twenty bucks I figured I couldn't go wrong, so I jumped on it.

I think it's like $80.00 now, I'm not really sure. I don't believe it grants free access to state parks, I never tried that, but I did use it to get into Mt. Rushmore and Devils Tower down in S.Dakota. The pass is generated with your name on it and requires photo ID for verification.

Yeah, we got ours several years ago when they were still $10. They aren't much use in state operated parks, but in addition to
free entry into Federal parks, it will get you a discount at COE campgrounds. We've used ours a bunch.

I got one when they were $20. It has got me into many National Parks. Now that I am lower 48, I plan to use it a lot once the pandemic settles down.

    Default Senior Federal Park Pass

I got my Pass a few years ago and paid $80. Must be 62 to get the lifetime pass. Only good for Federal Parks. This is a good deal for people who want to get out and enjoy the Parks. The wife and I have been seeing many of the Federal Parks. .....

I got my Senior Federal Park Pass when they were $20 I believe (about 6 years ago). I happened to pay at a national park (Ft. Stanwix), and when I pulled my credit card out to pay, my military I.D. fell out. As luck would have it, I was told military didn't pay.

Now that I think about it, I paid $10.00 for the pass and $10.00 processing fee, so that was the twenty I paid for my pass.

Came across this notice this morning: https://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/805...-public-lands/.

See the four types of identification that are required for free entry.

Cool.... Being over 62 and retired USAF, I'm doubly qualified.

Decades ago, DW and I were heading out to Lake Mead. When I approached the "Fee Shack", the lady noticed I had a base sticker on my windshield (don't know if the AF still uses them) and she asked me if I was military. I told her I was retired Air Force. She asked me if I get any kind of disability from the VA, which I answered in the affirmative. I was handed a clipboard with a form on it and she said "Here, fill this out". I did and she handed me an "America The Beautiful" access pass, free of charge. This pass gets me in all the NP's (and all occupants in my vehicle) free and gives me 50% off all other fees. Fees like the LMNRA annual sticker for my boat, camping fees, and the like. Looks like the current offer grants any Veteran the same benefits. As outdoor lovers, we have used the heck out of ours over the years. Great benefit!
