F3 sluggish takeoff
Hi folks
I have a 2016 f3 limited and it’s started to be sluggish on take off
Spluttering and not smooth at all
Also when it idles it’s not constant, it goes up and down
Sorry for the non technical Descriptions
Anyone able to advise
Cheers

Not much go go on here. How many miles on the odometer? Any recent service or modifications? Has the recommended maintenance been done? Has it sat for a length of time? Did this begin right after a fuel-up?
Could be a fuel filter issue. Could be fuel injectors, bad gas, or even worn or fouled spark plugs. Especially if you have been lugging the engine. Could even be ECM problems.

How many miles? Could be that the throttle body needs cleaning, spark plugs or poor quality fuel. Might want to try some fuel injector cleaner, like Seafoam, and try that first.

Sorry for the late reply I’m in Australia
It’s done 4,000 kms = 2,458 miles I guess
I have put 350 kms on it since I have had it for 3 months
I’ll try the fuel injector cleaner and see how that goes

Try not allowing the revs to go below 3,000, preferably higher. Shift at 4500 or more. As Martin the vlogger says: Ride it like you stole it. The 1330 engine love to rev and thrives on it.
Also, give it a good warm up prior to taking off. Start it, then put your gear on.

With this kind of mileage. I'd lean towards bad gas. Maybe a clogged fuel filter if you got a load of crud from a fuel-up. Let us know how the fuel system cleaner works for you.

So an update
I have been using nulon octane boost and clean
Went well for a while then had to add more
Now it seems like I need to add it to every tank fill
What I have found that it starts to rough idle if I’m in city traffic being stationary on a regular basis
I’m now at 7,000 kms
Very frustrating

Do you fuel up, at he same gasstation???
It's definitely not good to, use that much octane boost, cause your fuel is getting burnt at hotter temps, and this will cause failure to the injectors, they could easily burn completely out.
Try and flush the tank, with a good octane fuel, put in a new fuel filter, and basicly check fuel flow.
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it........
