Default 2013 Spyder 156hp is it possible?

    Hello,

I just read an add with a 2013 Spyder 990cc engine, 156hp and I wonder if this can be done and how. Remap the ECU, turbo kit added or what.

    thx

If the hot rodders can get 500+ horse power from a Hayabusa------ then its possible, not pretty though.

With enough money, almost anything's possible.

These Rotax 998cc engines are used in other 'non-Spyder' applications with better numbers than that straight out of the box; so YES, even with not much more than an air intake & exhaust upgrade plus a good ECU map upgrade, it's certainly possible to achieve that sort of output!

However, given the above, I'd expect somewhat better results from a well thought out turbo installation!

Aprilia got over 130 HP from the 998cc Rotax in their Tuono and the 995cc Ducati twin is 155 HP, so 156 is certainly achievable with some hotter cams, free-flowing intake and exhaust, a good ECU tune, some judicious cylinder head polishing and porting, larger valves, and balancing and blueprinting internals to allow higher RPMs. Or a small turbo, free-flowing exhaust, and a tune would get there as well. I'd be more inclined to just start with a more potent existing engine and find a way to make it fit.
