2020 RTL - broken saddlebag latch
Any suggestions on how I get the right side bag to open? Dealer has the parts on order, but considering the last time they ordered warranty parts took 2 months for the parts to arrive... I wanted to be able to get into the saddlebag now.

No problem. Look up under the front of the saddlebag. You will see a cable. Follow it to the adjuster. Turn the adjuster until the latch opens. Then return it to the original position. Call me if you need help. Joe

The adjuster, can I twist this with my hand or do I need a wrench?

What did you wind up doing with your latch?
Mine just broke at the hinge.
Haven't tried to get it open yet, just curious what you did to fix it. Did you have to buy a completely new latch or were you able to just by the plastic lever?

It's explained how to get into the saddlebags in the owners manual. Remove rear seat then remove 2 screws on the cover over the saddlebags, then you can trip/unlatch the door.

The dealer replaced both latches under as under warranty. After they were done, I adjusted the cable tension per the kind reply on how to get my saddlebags open.
No issues since.

Hi. I had the same problem in the fall. The latch mechanism didn't work, part of it was broken. In October, part only took a few days to get.
Sometimes it only needs adjustment. Found someone who said it isn't greased.
I don't know where you are from, but i took it to the dealer in rutland Vermont. They were great. My local dealer was going to make me drop it off, maybe they would get to it in a few weeks. Didn't care we might have snow, and i don't have a trailer. Rutland was great. Popped it open for me so i could get my clothes out. Ordered part. I came back with bike when part came in, and they did it right then while we'r went to breakfast. Didn't have to leave it.

Same here but I don't have a good dealer anywhere close like you. So I ordered the mechanism and will change it myself because, like your experience, my local dealers want me to leave my Spyder with them while they order the part, wait for the part and then schedule the repair (3-4 weeks). For the $50 so bucks it will cost me, I will fix it myself.

I just learned this is actually in the manual! Unfortunately ... guess where my bike is ... and why .... Yup!
At least the real season hasn't started yet.

How difficult is the fix? and where did you get the latches?
Curious ... just for next time!

I don't know yet - part should be here late next week. I will try to remember to post back what is entailed.
No dealer south of VA had one in stock and I have had good luck dealing with Sierra Cycles in AZ so I ordered it from them and they will ship it to me here in GA.
Each latch (left and right side - they are "handed") is $37.99 and you'll pay shipping unless you order it and pick it up from your local dealer.

OK thanks. I saw that but I was looking for some type of procedure to get it adjusted to work smoothly ... maybe a tension setting, where to lube ... use a cable lube or not. This seems to be a fix if it doesnt open.

That's what sduskin said in his post - the dealer replaced both latches, then after they were done, he adjusted the latches per cptjam's post.
