What is idle rpm meant to be????
Can someone tell me what the idle rpm of a 998cc motor should be. I have a 2012 Can am Spyder RT Limited SE5 with the 998cc motor and it idles at 1300 to 1400 rpms. Is this to high and maybe a vacuum leak?

The 998 was originally designed for a European crotch rocket. It is designed to rev. It doesn't really start making HP until around 5,500 RPM. If you don't rev it up, you can end up with issues over time.

My 2012 had idle issues, it was the vacuum lines on the throttle bodies that had cracked.

Ron i don't think rev it up will be a problem since i run on the interstates most of the time and the rev's are up there. but thank you

Agree with Ron. I shift at 6000- to 7000 and cruise at 5000. The problem you will encounter is that the clutch doesn't fully engage until around 4000. Below that you run the risk of the clutch slipping and have premature wear on the clutch plates.

Had my 2011 3-1/2 years, was told 1300/1400 rpm was normal, anything over that TPI ISSUES.
