Here is my first oil analysis ever. After discovering BRP doesn't offer full synthetic and recommends regular oil (semi synthetic) and they say to go 9300 miles, I decided to send the oil out to get analyzed. I did the first oil change at 2000 miles. The second one at 8000 miles. I ran the second oil change 6000 miles. The only part of this analysis I really understand is the note they wrote back to me. If any one can explain the rest that would be greatly appreciated. End result BRP XPS oil seams to stand up well except viscosity. That didn't seam to bother the analyist. I am going to stay with XPS, but my oil change intervals will be at 5000 miles.

Stop over thinking this subject, use what ever meets or exceeds the manufactures spec, and what ever you can afford people!! Stop worrying that your doing some thing wrong, when was the last time YOU blew a motor up! TIRES AND OIL what a waste of time!! But why do people go to the race track??? Because they love watching a good crash!!!

I like a good oil thread, maybe it's a waste of time, but that's OK.

The analyst was not concerned about the viscosity shearing down because in motorcycle engine & transmissions systems that share the same oil, as does the 1330 engine and SE6 transmission, the transmission gears beat the viscosity down fairly quickly, some oils in a little as 2K miles, but the viscosity level then remains pretty stable. A BRP Care guy named Steve explained that to us in early 2015 or so.

[QUOTE=troop;1531882]I'd really like to see an oil analysis of Amsoil/M1 10w40 or Castrol 10w50 after a BRP stated 9000 mile run time. Has anybody ran their oil I ran the Amsoil for 9,666 miles and Blackstone Labs said I could try running it to 12,000 miles. Holds up excellent in the 1330.

I ran Mobil 1 4T for 8,600 miles and it was okay but the viscosity was a little lower.

    Question Help

    Help

Did I buy the wrong oil ??

Got a good deal on Amsoil 10w-40 XL motor oil. Not JASO rated. I'm sure I could use up this stuff in my car but will it cause clutch slippage???

    Does not say energy conserving.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

That's automotive oil, extended life. Not sure it's even 100% synthetic.

So Bob the oil guy i take is not impressed with rotella T6 oil an couple other people here are not going to use it anymore. I have 5 gallons of it for my spyder oil changes for the next few yrs. So ? is if I go ahead an use it should I change it out around 5,000 miles instead of closer to 9,000 miles which I doubt I will get to that many miles in a yr. anyway. Or be like some others and switch to another brand, I can use t he T6 in my pickup.

    I use Crisco Vegetable Oil.

I find that sometimes, I need a burger along the side of a scenic road, so I stop and set up my portable Weber grill. I then apply a THIN coat of this oil on the grill bars by turning my Fumoto drain valve for just a SPLIT SECOND, otherwise my burger tastes like burned 91 octane Chevron gas.

    It's great !! Try it !!!!

Those Magnums with the MDS are really finicky when comes to oil. If I remember right they use 5w20. I had to make sure I stuck with the oil or the MDS would act up in cold weather.

Just let it run its coarse.

I been running Amsoil Metric 10W40 now since the start and have no issues with it. In fact I found it helped cut down on the clunking when shifting. JMO

    Carry on!

Hard to believe your 10W40 Amsoil shears down to a 20W. I have tested it at 9,600 miles and it was still a 40W.
