Default here's a new one for ya

Went to get my bike down off of craftsman mc jack/lift (I have to lift it up tho put it in front of my wife's car at a 90 degree angle since there is an 18" step that runs along the front of the garage next to the house, got that procedure down to 10 minutes when the jack works) and the jack would not go up or down. Hmmmm, now what do I do, got here up in the air and can't get here down. Well after some thought (I cn find my 2 scissor jacks I've had for years, musta lost em in the move a year and a half ago) I got out my long thin car single point lift and placed it in front of the mc lift to the front and raised her high enuf to get the mc lift out to work on and placed 2x4s under her to keep her comfy. Then I tore the mc lift apart and drained the oil and put in new oil and she seems to work fine so I'm back in business. Oh well, just another day in Chicagoland, missed a beautiful 90+ degree day though.

Hope everyone else was out ridin. Mike

On my lift, sometimes it needs to go up a bit to release enough pressure to be able to flip the lever to let it down...

Hard to understand how new hydraulic oil made any difference here. New or old, (or no oil at all), the jack should have come down.

I have to go up 1st to get it to roll away from the wall but the lift pedal was dead, maybe I dn have it resting on the locks and it bound with the pressure on the pisto for a few days, a yway the lift probably got some much needed maintenace and now it works. Thanks, Mike

Did you check the fluid in the cylinder, I have a jack that has a small leak, I have to put a little fluid in there and get the air out every now and then! You may have had a little air in the system!
