You will see where the plug in cable goes at the 45 second mark:

If you bought your Spyder second hand be sure to have the previous owner remove his name from the Garmin ownership or it wont download to you. You will also need Garmin Express.

I have never found that to be true. Does not need to be registered or does not need to be registered to you.

But I believe if it is registered to someone else, you can't down load the newer maps.

Like I said it does not matter who it is registered to. I have updated several for other folks. It always works. If it is a lifetime model or if lifetime maps has been bought for that unit of course.

If you stay in the Garmin universe for trip planning, I would recommend downloading their MapSource. It is the predecessor to BaseCamp, and somewhere on Garmin's site (at least it used to) it said that the 660 isn't compatible with BaseCamp. I was able to create trips on BaseCamp then export to MapSource to load on my 660. But if I went directly from BC to the device, it would sometimes drop turn points, especially if turn point B, for example, was nowhere near the straight line from A to C. Did I make myself clear on the last sentence?
