Tell Tell Signs between 600 and 900?
So with the Spyder RT there's a few subtle tell tell signs that jump out to a trained eye as to if it's the old 998 motor or the new 1330 motor.
I'm curious on the Rykers - is there any tell tell signs that someone can see and go - oh, that's a 900 or oh, that's a 600?

The 900 has “900” on the front storage lid.

Oh, like a decal? Is it on all the 900s (unless the owner has taken it off of course)? Good to know!

900 is molded into the plastic, but numbers are very small. Not likely to be noticed unless walking by while it's parked.

Is the length of the rear fender different between the 600-900? I thought the 600 had a shorter like a mini fender.....
Nah, in looking at pics, the 600 seems to have the same rear fender design as the 900 ACE.

Close...the rally has a short back fender.

The Rally (all Rallys are 900s, but not all 900s are Rallys) got a short fender. The idea being that it can do more dirt roads/etc and they didn't want things caught up in the full fender. But humorously, most folks want the full fender when doing more dirt roads/etc so that junk isn't thrown up at them.

I'm sure you are right about that. But I've actually heard the 600 is surprisingly peppy as well. I'm just more curious when walking around and seeing them parked, etc. if you can quickly tell the difference. Now I know to look for the 900 on the glovebox panel. I install LED lighting/etc. on rides and in the last week I've been booming with Rykers - so was just curious how to tell them apart.

I think the biggest difference is the 900 Ryder gets to know the folks at the Chevron better.

The last two fill-ups on my 900 yielded 39 and 40 mpg. It's all in how you ride.

My ride this past Tuesday of 80 miles (round trip on county roads) to my Rally dealer was 39.6 mpg. I average around that a lot. I enjoy the county roads more than the highways. btw 50 miles round trip on the high way.

The 600 is peppy. I test drove a new one to figure out if I would be satisfied with a Y roadster.
The dealer had not yet assembled a 900, so a new 600 off the showroom floor was fueled.
Being a new motor, I was cautious with revs, but at the end of the 10 mile ride in the south of Las Vegas valley, I got on highway 95, went a few miles, doubled back to check uphill on-ramp acceleration. I would have enjoyed a 600
However, riding steep grades at elevation, I suspect that less than 900 would not satisfy for long.
The Ryker 600 is 50 HP @ 7300, idle 1100 RPM, 12:1 comp
The Ryker 900 is 82 HP @ 8000, idle 850 RPM, 11;1 comp

The bottom line is a 600 has a great price point and satisfaction likely based upon how it will be used: Great commuter.

With a CVT transmission that the Rykers have, exactly like most ATV's and Side by Side's, ie same normal clunking characteristics utilize the torque of the various motors rather than Horse Power.

I have ridden a 600 2 cylinder up to about 60 MPH, totally surprised on its pep and power. Also really liked the sound and feel, AKA, soul of the machine. Have not had a chance to either hear or ride a 900.

With due respect (think you are older than me), I am not following your comment
The 600 torque is 36.7 @ 6000
The 900 torque is 58.3 @ 6500
HP = RPM * torque (at rated HP RPMs) / 5252
For the 600, HP would equal 7300 * 36.7 / 5252 = 51.01, if torque remained the same at HP rated RPMs. Since Can-Am rates the HP at 50, then it appears that torque is dropping at 7300 RPM. Solving for torque at that RPM 7300T/5252=50. T=35.97 @ 7300
For the 900, HP would equal 8000 * 58.3 / 5252 = 88.8, if torque remained the same at HP rated RPMs. Since Can-Am rates the HP at 82, then it appears that torque is dropping at 8000 RPM. Solving for torque at that RPM 8000T/5252=82. T=53.83 @ 8000
The bottom line is that although the torque curve has decreased at the HP rated RPM, the Rotax motors are using higher RPMs to gain HP.
