    Default CB problem-PTT switch?

I have a 2014 RTS and have used the CB for several years. Now when transmitting, all the other rider hears is static. Reception is great. Can you get just the new switch or do you have to buy the whole cluster block? I suppose it could be just a bad cable or something of that kind.
Thanks in advance for any useful advice. DickyRichard

Well, just not sure it’s the PTT switch yet. Let’s verify something. Go to your CB screen on the display. Just to the right of the channel number you’ll see RX when receiving and TX when transmitting. Operate the switch. If the PTT switch causes your CB to switch between receive and transmit modes, it’s working properly. The problem lies someplace else. If the listeners say that you seem to be throwing a dead carrier signal... transmitting but with no audio... then start at the mic and work your way back.

The chances are more likely you have a broken/loose wire, plug or plug pin in your CB audio cord. Good luck..... Jim

As the guys say the first thing to suspect is the cord. The PTT switch is not directly involved in CB transmission. It is bubble switch in the left hand switch module. The switch module has a processor in it that communicates with the rest of the bike, including the audio, by way of the CAN bus, so CB transmit is turned on by digital communication, not by a switch completing a circuit. The audio unit receives the CAN bus signals and then transmits them to the CB unit.

I have an Edsets headset and have had numerous issues with cords suffering shorts and breaks.
