Need advice - what's the diff in tire sizes 205/50 vs 225/50?
I am looking to buy the Vredestein Quatrac 5 tire for the rear of my 2014 RT, but they dont offer it @ tirerack.com in the 225-50-R15 but have the 205-50-R15...so my question is what is the difference in the 225 verses the 205? I know there are some good tire information from knowledgeable spyder owners here so thanks for any feedback.

If I recall, the 225 is millimeters width of tire...so a 205 would not be as wide. The 50 is the aspect ratio of the sidewall height. Basically, this would be slightly thinner and slightly lower profile.

You might want to look at the 205/65R-15. Just a little taller and corrects the speedometer error.

205/50/15 is 8.1 inch wide, 23.1 inch tall 72.4 inch a round and takes 875 turns per mile.
225/50/15 is 8.9 inch wide, 23.9 inch tall 74.9 inch a round and takes 846 turns per mile.

You want to achieve as close as possible to stock size .... Vredestein use to offer a 215/60-15 ..... but only have the 205/60 or 65 -15 ...... Most here have gotten the 205/60-15 and been very happy with it ...... Mike

We just installed a 205/65-15 Q5 a few weeks ago. Feels great, speedo error is virtually non-existant.
