I remember and appreciate what the Canadians did for us after the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut, Lebanon. Happy Canada Day.

My mother was Canadian (Brantford Ontario). I remember her singing "The Maple Leaf Forever". We always celebrated the 1st.

    The Maple Leaf
    Our Emblem Dear,
    The Maple Leaf Forever.
God save our Queen and heaven bless,
    The Maple Leaf Forever.

    Happy TRAils/NSD

This thread caused me to do some searching on the internet. What I found is that I am Canadian! I'm not positive what was reported is absolutely correct. But, there are several web sites that say if I am an offspring of a person born in Canada that I am Canadian. My father was born in Vancouver B.C. Canada. Moved to the U.S. with my grandparents when he was a youngster. I was born in the U.S. I have cousins still in Canada. I have traveled between the U.S. and Canada countless times visiting relatives and vacationing. This presents interesting thoughts about having dual citizenship. I don't know what benefits there might be other than maybe having ease traveling between countries. I think this is something I will look into. I do have all my father's birth documents as well as immigration and naturalization papers.

So, this year, maybe I can celebrate BOTH July 1st and July 4th. If this turns out to be true, I'll bet there are many others here in the same circumstance..... Jim
