    They work. We had a real rat (Kangaroo Rat to be specific) problem with our cotton jacketed fire hose. Since these very destructive critters were deemed 'Endangered' in California. (Though they proliferate like crazy and they seem to be just about everywhere). You couldn't kill them. But having them chew holes in our fire hose was not a great option. So, we purchased units similar to this and the problem was solved.

    Unfortunately, it seems the only thing that is actually endangered in California these days is sanity!

    Get some dryer sheets and slip them in nooks and crannies, between wires and the critters will stay away. And we have a mouser, squirreler, moler and of course a bird killer CAT.

    Moth balls do the trick too. The trick is to find male moths.

    OH HELL SANITY, what is that ? there sure as hell is none here in California in the Gov. office.
