    Default is it just me

my first spyder( may explain it) and one of the little miscues that i have is the turn signal cancelling manually like when lane changing. i would would of liked to have had the button larger and more user friendlier especially when trying to cancel after lane change. have not tried with glove on but think may be more of an issue. tendency to bounce from one side to the other before hitting sweet spot to cancel. rode mostly harleys and signal switch was better in that instance.

    No it's not just you

The center-off of the turn signal switch can be very touchy. With my 2014 ST I have no problem canceling. With my new 2019 F3S it's very easy to accidentally flip from left to right instead of off. My wife's 2013 RT is just like pressing an over-ripe prune!

It is touchy. The key to cancel is be careful to not push the button sideways but in only. Left and right to turn signal on, straight in to turn off. The signal will automatically cancel after about 30 seconds, a long time at 60 mph!

Don't try to find the center to flip it off. Just press in on the switch with out moving it to either side. That will cancel it. It will cancel by itself in something like 90 seconds anyway. I do it with gloves on all the time.

My problem with the turn signal is missing it completely and hitting the horn button. Then I'll usually just wave at people and pretend I know them.

Takes some riding time to retrain your fingers to find the new switch locations. Before I bought the Spyder, I had been riding Harleys for about 30 years. They have one turn signal switch on each side. Took a couple thousand miles of hunting the new turn signal switch location before it became automatic again. I started finding the turn signal switch about the same time I quit reaching for the clutch and front brake lever.

    Default Turn signal switch

I have had a Spyder for 7 years, and it is still a problem for me. I did have Joe and Ann put the turn signal lights on my bike, so I can tell when they are on, but the switch is still a problem.

I feel the same myself, my ex's 2013 RT was just as bad to turn off the signal's and my 2017 RT is the same a poor design in my opinion.

That is what I did too...the extra turn signal lights let me know if they did not cancel. No I can play the game without Linda telling me they are still on.

On my 18 F3L I sometimes hit the joy stick when turning right instead of the turn signal switch. I know right away when my music changes song. Big thumbs I guess.

I agree with Gwolf, don't hunt for anything, just push straight in; that's why the switch was designed the way it was.

I haven't hit the horn, but I have gone from side to side before getting it right. And I have and added LEDs on the mirrors too.

Guess I learned something new today. I did not know that the turn signal would time out as some stated above. Now I got to give that feature a try, when no one is watching.

Make sure you are moving when you try to let it time out. The timer is suspended when stopped. This allows the signals to keep flashing when stopped at a red light.

What I would love to see implemented is a partial bump that would cause the signal to flash 3 times then quit similar to a lot of cars.

I think there are too many little switches on the left pod so they couldn't make the turn signal switch move very far left or right, which makes it a little touchy. The implementation of flash-3-times is a wonderful idea IMHO.

The turn signal switch is almost exactly like the old turn signals on the Hondas and some other early Japanese bikes from the 1960s. They were not electronic, of course, but center was off, left was left turn, and right was right turn. They did not self-cancel.

Thanks! It isn't just me being new to the Spyder world. Well, it probably is, in part. The switch itself seems to be in the wrong spot, unlike my other bikes. And it's small. I hit the horn yesterday at another bike (I was thinking center press turn signal to turn it off.)

Agree with the turn signal 'off' position, I want to get that off immediately after the lane move, gotta exert some pressure in the center position and I don't always get it right. If BRP had made that spring a little less tension I'd be more comfortable, but it is what it is so adapt is the word.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one to hit the horn, feel a little better.
