    Default Wheel Locks

    Hello All,
I'm just wondering if anybody here is using lug nut wheel locks for the the front tires of their Spyder/Ryker. I'm thinking about getting a set of wheel lick just like they have on SlingMods.com or similar or even one lug nut lock per wheel just like on a car, I know the RT-L using M12x1.5 studs so it's easy to get a set of McGard lock for my RT-L. I always keep my Spyder in my garage at night and I park very close to my office at work so I don't have to worry about it's being at home or work; just in case I travel outside of my domain and stay in a hotel.
Having a wheels stolen on a car can cost thousand of dollars since a thief will most likely drop your vehicle on the ground after taking the wheel(s) and the result will be suspension/body damage. Not to mention inconveniences and frustrating. I imagine having front wheel(s) stolen on a Spyder will have similar effect.
Just an idea and a question.
    Cheers.

Right size thin wall socket & low clearance jack not saying they won’t ,but sure won’t be a crime of convenience & if someone did there will be a crowd of witnesses that were ogling at the spyder

I reckon you might be overthinking this and worrying just a little too much Trong!

Sure, you might think your Spyder wheels look nice, but the rims are pretty skinny & even a bit small for most vehicles/owners these days; the Spyder rims will only fit on maybe 5 or so cars that've ever been available on the current &/or historical wider car market; and most significantly, THEY ARE ONLY THREE STUD RIMS!!

So unless they're gonna be taken by some low-life dickwad who's just out to really piss you off (in which case they are gonna take the wheels &/or do something worse if they can't anyway! And in that case it might be a good thing if your Insurance co ALSO hasta buy replacement rims - if your deal is anything like it is here in Oz, you stand a far better chance of getting a full write-off pay-out if the cost of repair/replace is too high! ) then who on earth is likely to dven want to flog your rims?? Maybe some tosser who wants to seriously downgrade his early SmartCar rims & stick a set of under-sized skinnies on it that will really only carry a few tire sizes of limited availability?!? Yeah, NO!

It's so unlikely to happen that I'd suggest you just pay your insurance & worry about replacing your rims if they ever get flogged.... but IMHO, that's a pretty big IF!!

Yes I do . Bought them from the auto parts store years ago. So both my fronts have wheel locks on them. Believe I have the Mc Guards too.

If people steel your spare truck tires like they do around me they will steel your wheels too.

They jack up cars around here and steel all 4 tires off your car too.

For me, I am not going to worry about someone stealing my wheels. I have enough other stuff on my plate.

Do what works for you though. Most of us have no problem with that.

Not the end all, do all, but a full cover affords some, if not a lot of security at motels.
I have stayed at motels hundreds of nights and never had anyone molest my bike. I cover it and I request a ground floor room that I can park in front of.
I've never done this, but I know others who have....place a flashing red LED on the bike in a conspicuous place. It doesn't draw hardly any current, so no worries about draining the battery. If your cover is translucent, it will show through that.

    Hi All,
Thank you all for your thoughts and sharing your experiences regarding the matter. So I'm not the only one wanted to get wheel locks. I think a little peace of mind for $30 is quite a bargain.
Happy riding! It's nice weather out there.
    Cheers.
