Tire balancing

Is it necessary to spin balance the front wheels of the syder and can any tire shop do it??

I believe opinions and comments are going to vary a bit.

Some will insist on Road Force balancing. Others Dynamic balancing. Others will say install tire goo and others insist on balancing marbles. Some may even suggest static balancing without spinning.

Our fronts I dynamically balanced with weights on both lips of the wheel flanges. No vertical imbalance or precession wobble.

Unless the tire shop has a small hub for there machine they may not. I bring my own hub adapter for the tire place to balance my tires.

I use Dynobeeds (sp), tiny white ceramic beads. No marring the rims, no glue to clean up, no liquid mess, and even took the 40mph no hand shimmy out of my Goldwing F6B. cueman

I also use balance beads. Ride is smooth as glass

Truthfully, if you have a quality tire shop you plan to use, bring both wheels over. If they can fit them on the machine correctly, have them balanced. If the machine is not able to fit the wheel, get the brand and model, plus spindle size. Ask the shop if you bring the correct adapter will they then balance the wheels for you. The shop itself may wish to purchase the adapter themselves.

My Snap On balancer fits the fronts easily, but not the rear. Even able to dynamic balance the RT622 trailer wheels.

I changed all my tires recently and added RIDE-ON. plugs holes and balances tires. Doing great so far.

Has anyone used RIDE-ON with FOBO TPMS sensors installed? The factory recommends that the sensors are hermetically sealed.

I guess the Easy Correct way is breaking the tire loose from the rim and pouring them in? How much did you put in your tires?

I think the BEADS come in different sizes, so possibly the ones you have are too large for the valve hole...... good luck ..... Mike

I never was a fan of beads, used Ride On with previous trike, worked well.

. The easiest is when you are replacing a tire. On my GW it is suggested to use 1oz. Front tire and 2oz. in rear tire. When the tire changer has the new tire pushed down on rim take a cigarette paper with the beads wrapped in it and drop in the tire before the top tire bead is seated then air up as usual. The super thin paper will break open and disperse the beads. Easy Peasy! cueman. PS, on the oz. per tire I was relying on my memory, may or may not be correct. Read the instructions as per tire size as to how many oz.of beads needed.

Basic rule of thumb, with in reason, is if you need to add more, do it. I’ve had to add more in my Ural tires. YMMV cueman

2oz front, 3oz rear

Just had Q5's front tires installed. Used 2oz of 2mm ceramic beads bought off eBay from seller that sells by the ounce....with 10oz minumin @ 1.29 per oz.

Much cheaper than Dynabeads and they work fine.

In fact, talked with new Spyder rider on how to improve handling and tracking. Told him, IMO 2 improvements need to be done....laser alignment and sway bar.
Now I would include new Verdestein tires front and rear. Unbelievable difference in ride and handling

Note: IF you prefer brand Dynabeads and purchase from eBay....pls be careful on pricing. Many offered at unbelievable high prices.....buyer beware.

Absolutely not true, there are other proven ways to obtain balance of a tire.

Mutha, did you do the bead application with the tires on the machine? That rear looks like a real bear to get it done on the Spyder, hard enough just getting air in there.

The wheel balances didnt work for me and had them balanced several times. Finally found someone who knew how to use a road force balance machine.

Yeah had the tire off and just before I put it back on the wheel I dumped the beads in first. They are a PIA to put them in thru the stem, even with the wheel off the Spyder to get them in the stem.
I prefer a long stem fill nozzle makes it easier for me. Also have a London sten digital pressure gauge.
