Default OEM F3 muffler for 2008 GS SE5??? Does it fit? Sound? More Performance?

    Hello,

I need some advice, I hate my 2008 muffler, I want a shorter one, maybe O&M from F3, cheap and good looking.

I had a HMF on 2008 GS...I liked the sound, not obnoxious, It also had a baffle that easily removed if you wanted more rumble...

I cannot give any info about the F3 muffler fitting on a 08/GS. Back in the day, Hindle seemed to be the muffler of choice. If you put that in the search function...there are a lot of threads about it.

I just got rid of my Hindle. Those rattling heat shields were driving me crazy. I replaced it with this. https://www.partzilla.com/product/af...ODOO-VPESPYK8B
Sounds awesome and it seems the bike breathes a bit better.

I tried several mufflers and settled on this Yoshimura. It sounds GREAT! I get a lot of comments on the sound. Mild at lower throttle settings, mellow at cruise, but sounds AWESOME at WOT! Love to hit it in tunnels... Went riding with some BRP marketing and engineer personnel back at the Colorado event several years ago. They wanted to know more about my exhaust saying that it was the sound that they wanted to develop.

It is the RS-3 model. There are other styles if you don't like the looks of this one that give pretty much the same results. I run mine with the optional baffle (easily removed). The stand alone picture is not impressive. But I think it looks very good on the bike. It is an oval shape (longer vertically than horizontally).

Another feature I like is that it is a tough muffler. The 998 is very hard on exhaust systems. I've got about 25,000 miles on this muffler and it's still just like new. It is rebuildable as well, which I did this last year. I was surprised that the packing was still in pretty good shape. It really didn't need to be rebuilt.

This link is generic to give you an idea of pricing. If you look around, you can probably find them for less. You will also need a 90 degree elbow to fit this to an older RS/RSS/GS Spyder.
