We went to the Sturgis rally several years ago and loved every minute of it. Now that the wife has her F3L she is all about riding the area again (without having to look at the back of my helmet) so we are going to the 3 wheeler rally this year. We have reservations at the Travelodge and will trailer in from St. Louis. Really looking forward to it. We like to spend our time on the bikes vs walking around Sturgis or Deadwood. We will try to hit as many of the rides as possible but as stated in other posts there are a ton of beautiful roads and sights to see there. We like to ride in groups so if anybody has some planned rides or want to get one together let us know.
I have done I 90 several times in the car to the Black Hills, especially when visiting my parents home in Pipestone when I was stationed in Albuquerque. I am thinking state or back roads for this trip. When I was a kid I saw the three stooges (I don't recall which three they were at that time probably around 1963 or so) at the Corn Palace. I am thinking maybe US 14 to hit some of the places I went when growing up like Brookings. A friend of mine and I road my overloaded 250cc Puche out to Pierre SD and then on to a Boy Scout camp for a week. So I want to stop at the river and see if anything looks like I think I remember. Things probably haven't changed much in 30 years.
But I always appreciate your feedback as you probably got around MN on a motorcycle more than me and we have just recently started going back often. My wife married me 46 years ago because I was the first guy leaving MN and we just kept on going. Hopefully we will get to meet you and many others at Deadwood.
I did have the chance to do a lot of MC riding in MN. It was all of the two wheel variety. Spyders were not invented yet. I have covered most of the state. When I was in the Leathercraft business, Northern MN east to west, was my territory. I called on mostly every school from Sandstone North.
Back road traveling is the way to go for scenery and sights.

If you have not ridden any of the many roads in the Deadwood/Black Hills area you are in for a huge treat... they have some of the best riding in America.. go for it..

I plan to attend and is my first Three Wheel Rally. Staying at Whitetail Creek Resort near Lead. Have been to the Black Hills many times on bicycle trips and automobile vacations so am looking forward to the Rally. Hope to meet many of you this summer.
