Default New Year 2020 Ride Plan

Getting the new year ride plan ready. I'm starting to get some local ride fliers already so I will be posting them here like I did for 2019. Most of the ride I post are in the southern part of PA near the I 81 area. So far I know of the ride Run for The Son that will leave M&S HD in Chambersburg PA on May 2. and God Bless America Ride That will leave Buck Horn Restaurant in Greencastle PA. on June 7. I will post the details on them later. So Few months to go but looking forward to a good year with lots of rides making new friends and helping where I can. Let the thread begin.

All rides have been cancelled until further notice. UPDATE RIDEs CONTINUE SEE BELOW

Things have been quiet in the area so far this year we are still in code Red Stay at Home Orders in my county with 711 cases and 29 deceased. So not much in the way of organized rides this year and missed not having Rolling Thunder. In PA we also have not been doing many Patriot Guard Events. Tomorrow I will go for a ride to visit a local Veterans Memorial Site we have in my town to pay my respects to those we have lost. I also want to share an email I got for my state PGR with you, see below.

    Dear Members and Friends,

This Monday, May 25th, our country is celebrating Memorial Day in honor of those who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. Military. Because of Covid-19 many will decide that they cannot do anything to remember and honor these Heroes on this Memorial Day. I urge you to take a stand and find a way to honor and remember these Heroes. Take a minute or two to remember them, speak of them to your friends, email messages of them, text stories of them, remember and honor them.

We are Patriot Guard Riders because we care, and we as Patriot Guard Rider members, more than ever, need to step up and remember on this Memorial Day.

Let me start this conversation now . . . I remember every day and Memorial Day a young man who saved my life in Vietnam many times over and was later awarded posthumously the Medal of Honor . . . Cpl. Larry Maxxam; I remember every day and Memorial Day the sons of the Gold Star Mothers and Fathers that I have held, cried with and shared my life with; I remember every day and Memorial Day the husbands of the Gold Star Wives that I have cried with and shared my life with; I remember every day and Memorial day the men and women whose names I have read on the stones in American cemeteries all over the world; most of all I remember every day and Memorial Day the unknown names of the thousands of men and women who perished serving our country in times of war and in peace since the beginning of our country.

The conversation is now in your hands . . . it is about them that we remember on Memorial Day. Continue the conversation and let it come from your heart . . . they deserve it. Do not let Covid-19 or anything else stop us from finding a way to remember and honor them. Thank you all for what you do and thank you all for being heroes too.

Up Coming Event You May Want To Visit

As you may know I’m also a Pennsylvania Patriot Guard Rider. On July 21 as a PA PGR member I will be escorting “The Wall That Heals” To the Bedford Middle School Track Facility, at 440 East Watson St, Bedford, PA 15522. The wall will be there where it will be set up on Wednesday, 22nd of July and will be on display until Sunday, 26th of July. Wall Info can be found here https://www.vvmf.org/The-Wall-That-Heals/

What is the wall? The Vietnam Veterans “The Wall That Heals” is a three-quarter scale replica of the Memorial in Washington D.C., featuring 58,000 Vietnam veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our county. The replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its highest point. The Vietnam Veterans “The Wall That Heals transforms into a mobile education center for visitors to get a better understanding of the legacy and educates the impact of the Vietnam War, heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice that served during the war and the replica also includes, photos of hometown heroes and much more.

Just thought I would pass this info on to you with a thought that it might make a nice ride if you needed some ideas and it gives you some time to plan.

    UPDATE: From https://www.twthbedford2020.org/schedule.html

    Thursday, July 23-26
The Wall That Heals will be officially open 24 hours a day and will stay open until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26. The event is free and we encourage all groups to attend.
