I have one in my garage, the rear tire. Kenda Kanine. Paid $96 including shipping from MotoSports.... waiting for the weather to warm up so I can have the dealer install. I guess I'll be the "test case". Still in the dark on what inflation pressure to use. I'll post the sidewall information from the tire when I get back in town. After I post the info, maybe someone can give me some recommendations on proper inflation, otherwise I'm going with 28 psi.

Check the tire wear pattern after 1000 miles--it will indicate over or under pressure--provided the alignment is adequate.

So I want to take this as good news that will eliminate the hassle of getting a dealer to put on a car tire.
Questions I have, is Kenda known for making a decent tire of any type (if no it doesn't mean this one isn't good, just not a great indicator) and since it "looks" more car tire spec size does that meant dealers may be more forgiving about putting on a car tire that is rated for the rim than they are now?

I kinda doubt it. I do remember that the sidewall on my Kenda Kanine says "For Motorcycle Use Only". My dealer asked if that was on there and I said yes. He said, "OK, then I can install it". All the dealers in this neck of the woods won't substitute car tires on the Spyder.

Mind you, if it says this on the sidewall, then these tires are gonna be ILLEGAL for anyone to fit on an OE Spec Spyder rim here in Aust, cos our Spyders have 'J' type CAR rims & it's the legal responsibility of both the vehicle operator and the tire fitter to ensure that tires labelled 'MC' or 'Motorcycle Use Only' ARE NOT used on &/or fitted onto CAR rims & vice versa!!
However, all that aside, Kenda have been known to make some pretty good tires, but that does seem to be fairly dependent upon which factory they come out of & what their intended use is..... I guess we'll hafta wait & see. AFAIK, these tires aren't available in Aust (yet?) & from what I've been able to find out, there aren't any of the usual tire importers even considering them for Aust..... yet?!?

I wanted to replace the front two tires anyway, so I bought the front set of these new kendas. I guess I will find out how good they are.

If that Kenda tire is made for the Can Am Spyder why would any dealer refuse to mount it ??

Kenda has been around for many years. They have made a bazillion bicycle tires.. as well as hand truck tires and go-kart tires. I was wondering the same thing when I got my Spyder if they were ready for the big time. I say they are fine as any and have been doing a good job on most of our spyders. Maybe a little soft and not the longest life but that's what the Spyder engineers decided to use in the end. I just got my Spyder in August of 19' & the time hasn't came yet for me to cross the bridge of selecting new tires so I'm not sure what I'll do but knowing me, I'll probably end up getting a new set of these Kenda Kanines.

I know in the two wheeled world, you mention a Kenda, you get flogged. One friend of mine said, the only reason I would put a Kenda on my bike is maybe to move to the other side of the garage and take it back off and trash it.

Kenda does have a definite reputation.

Are Kenda's good. Its all ab out perspective. So long as you don't have a problem with:- Poor Grip
- Poor Handling
- Constant Vibration
- odd shaped out of round tyres
then yes they are great.
The Spyder Dealership put a Non Kenda tyre on for me at one of my services (its 500km round trip) I could not believe how much better it was to ride.

Askitee, are you responding to my specific question about how the new Kanine is working out on your Spyder, or are you replying in general to the 2 year old, original post?
I know the OEM Kendas are pretty poor, as I have been on this forum for 6 years, but I am specifically after feedback on the new, supposedly improved Kanine, since it has now been around for a couple of years
I had zero issues with the Kanines on the front of my RT for 12 months until I replaced them with taller aspect aftermarket tyres to address road issues. They had good grip, good handling, no vibration, and they were definitely not out of round. I had no reason to replace them, other that needing a higher aspect.
p.s. which dealer put an aftermarket tyre on your Spyder? That may solve all my issues.

Just to clarify, I know mine has a directional arrow and they are clearly directional tires. Also the 44 psi is stated as Max pressure on the sidewall, not recommended inflation pressure. I'll post verbatim info from the sidewall when I get back in town.

Interesting how they make specific reference to "passenger car replacements" and being better than stock.
"Greater mileage than stock, better handling than passenger car replacements."
