Rear rack for 2014 ST-S

I realise I am on the other side of the world however there are a number of Aussies on here.

Not sure what the shipping might be from the States, may be riciculous might be ok. I have bought car items from the States in the past and thought the shipping was ok. The dollar was better then though.

I was originally thinking of a passenger backrest for Spydey however the more I thought about it the option of a rack and then a trunk made more sense as the trunk could also be a backrest and the additional storage would be great.

So if anyone has a rack laying around please let me know.

Hi Glen, have you checked to see if Martin at spyderryders.net.au has anything you like? Because he generally imports a whole bunch of stuff all in the one load, the import/shipping costs on individual items doesn't make quite such a big hit. Yeah, I know you've got an ST, but: 1. he has sources, and 2. he might have unsold stock . Probably worth a shot! Good Luck!

All good here now as the fires were not too close and we did get some heavy rain, short but enough to clear the skies. Plenty of smoke though at times. What about yourselves?

Here in the Adelaide Hills, we've been fairly close, but remain safe - which is pretty much as good as you can ask for, isn't it?! We know people who've lost everything but the clothes they stand up in!

Both the Missus & I have family & lots of friends in some of the hardest hit areas further East, especially in Southern NSW/Sapphire Coast & Snowy Mountains, VIC/East Gippsland & the Alpine areas, so it's been pretty hard doing what we need to do & whatever we can do to help here, all the while knowing they are doing it especially tough over there.... but so far, despite some evacuations & nights on the beach, our extended families & friends are all safe, and when it all comes down to the nitty gritty, all the rest is 'stuff' isn't it? And most 'stuff', you can either replace or at least remember, so we are thankful!

Rack is on and happy with the install. Also very happy with the structure of the rack. Just from the pictures I was concerned it might be a bit flimsy but not the case it is very sturdy. Now to get a top case. Thanks again for the feedback and help.

Shad 40 cargo now installed. Simple install ver happy with the result. I can carry some tools now, jump starter and water. Amazing though how you expand into available space!

Glenn, my install goes well, I’ve cut all the parts for both racks and have to just weld it all up and get it powder coated. Have ordered the parts needed from CanAm for the exhaust mount fittings for the rear left hand foot peg as this is where I’ll end up attaching the down tubes.

Both units finished and Zedd picked them up to be sandblasted and powder coated we should have them back next Friday

All done, Shad SH40 Cargo topbox fitted using the original Shad base plate and then modified to fit the sports rear guard.

I must get the brake light kit.
Where did you splice in the brake light? Under the seat?

I made a 600mm extension cable for the brake/tail light feed as there’s no room to pickup a feed. I then spliced into this and mine already has extensions on the indicators so I just did the same to them. The Shad brake light is crap and I had the wires break off whilst installing so I jumped on eBay and purchased a 200mm sealed led with tail/brake/indicator and retro fitted it all, am very pleased with it the only snag I ran into was the Spyder electrics, I can’t run the tail light as the moment I connect the brake light I loose the tail light, so I’ll wire in a relay to fix that later. So for now I have brake light and indicators.
