I wish I was riding...
Here in Southeastern Ontario, usually by XMAS we should have a least a bit of snow. The snow is a reminder of why I am not riding my Spyder. But this year, we have absolutely nothing. The roads are clear and yesterday we had 45F or 8 C. I could have been riding. But my Spyder is stored for the winter. That makes me long for the Spring even more and I wish I was riding my Spyder more than usual. Just 2-3 months before riding season starts anew.
Happy hibernation

In my area (southern WI), we're supposed to get up to 1.5" rain from now > early Monday. Extended forecast shows sunny/40* by weeks end. If that is the case, the remaining salt residual will be washed away and a News Years Day ride might be in the forecast

I plan to do about 250 miles today on the Ryker. Not a huge distance. But not bad for a December afternoon!

This is what the GrapeVine looked like at 1:00PM yesterday as we were driving home to
Linden ( northern CA. ) I-5 was closed for almost 2 days north and south till they cleared
all the wrecked and stranded cars and trucks so they could plow the road....

Wanted to ryde today, it was clear and up into the 40s... but wound up installing the Battery Tender harness instead and putting the F3 on life support instead.

44* and miraculously dry today. Carol said, "Take the Spyder out for a ride, you haven't been on it since mid September. I knew it was now or wait out the constant rains again. So I did. Took 'er off the Battery Tender, rolled 'er outa the garage and hit the starter. She woke up right away without hesitation. Nice.
I was curious as to were I'd be on the learning curve, as I was still climbing up it and I felt as though I had a long way to go to the top. It was at the end of September I got the hip replacement and although it took a while, I'm doing just great now. It used to be painful mounting and dismounting and not too comfortable either while riding. Now it's a breeze.
I hit reverse gear and put 'er in the street, hit first gear, took a deep breath and twisted the throttle and took off. Wow! I am really zoned into this thing now. I guess during the three and a half month hiatus I not only didn't forget anything about riding the Spyder, but I climbed waaay up the learning curve. Left curves used to be my nemesis, and I would slow way down for them due to the camber of the road causing the bike to lean right while it was turning left. 67 years on two wheels had to be undone and today's ride told me that is behind me and I am now a certified three wheel pilot.
I owe it all to the new hip. Climbing aboard and riding is pain free and comfortable, that was not the case before the new hip. Makes what I had to go through to get the hip replaced and then the long recovery well worth it all. When I returned home, I thanked Carol for urging me to take the Spyder out. It was a real epiphany.
Upon returning home, I told Carol I had some good news and some bad news. First the bad news; I no longer like the Spyder. She winced at that and then I said, and the good news is I'm starting to love the Spyder. Yes indeedy I am!

Wife an I took our Spyders out Thursday. Rode from Yakima to Ellensburg. Nice ride thru the Yakima river Canyon. 30 degrees in Ellensburg, an not much better when we got back to Yakima. Friday we took the spyders out again. Went east out of Yakima to the Silver Dollar cafe an turned south to Sunnyside. Sunnyside to Zillah for a late lunch an then took freeway on back to Yakima. 30's again, just dressed for the temps an alls well. No heated gear. When roads are dry an clear its time to ride.

You could put on your snowmobile gear and pull the old girl out of storage and take a spin on her!! Watch out for any dirt they may have on the roads!!!!

It was in the lower 70's here in NC this past Saturday. Unfortunately I had some moving to do and was tied up until 7 that night. I wanted to ride on Sunday, but the threat of rain was too great. So I took the convertible out instead. Good thing, as it started to sprinkle about 30 miles from home, into my 100 mile round trip. Today it is 70 already, but the threat of rain. New Years day it will be back down to a high of 54, but sunny. I am going on a ride regardless and start the year off right.
