Default Mother Nature's been sippin' the "nog" again

Here we are, December 22nd and it's 52* in southern WI. Back on Halloween she got real crabby and dropped 4" of snow on us. It is what it is, but it sure makes it hard to get into any kind of mood when Mother Nature has her crabby pants half way on. Just finished up marking and mowing snowmobile trails yesterday, and today I feel like I should be out on the Spyder.

Yes. Once that sun sets and you get in the shade, say good-bye to at least 10 degrees. And then the wind chill kicks in, and then the deer start coming out of the woodwork.

Much better than AK. Just got back in from another 75 miles. I cannot describe how much I am liking all this.

I also did 32 degrees on Tuesday...the weather guys said it felt like 22, and I believe them. I have good winter gear, so with the liners in and the gloves on, I toughed it out. I am getting where my comfort level is going to stick at about 20 degrees though. No more 10+ below zero rides like I did when I lived in Duluth, MN in the 60's.

I agree, here in Aus, Saturday was 47 Deg C, Sunday 27 Deg C, last night 12 Deg C. With the extreme swings in temp the edging on one of our gardens, the concrete around the pergola, and other bits and pieces have all developed huge cracks big enough to put you fingers into.

I do the same just dress for it 20s and low 30s are rough at highway speeds. 40s and 50s are good I don't mind that. Sure do like the hand warmers lol. I been thinking about trying heated gear but a lot of time I stand out side when I get to where I'm going and I'm thinking the heated gear might make that part (standing outside without the gear plugged in) worse.

How cold is it in the winter there, what your talking about is pretty warm 47c =117F and 12c = 54F here. that is a very big swing in temp for you as well.

When we say degrees F here we are saying degrees Fahrenheit that is what we use in the USA. most every where else use degrees Celsius. I forget that all the time when talking to other people.

Today the weather here in Vermont was in the 30's. We don't have much snow on the ground.

The snowmobile trails are not open yet( they causally open on Dec. 16th), due to the low snow cover. In the southern part of Vermont, some of the snowmobile trails are open but have limited access to services ( Gas, food,).

So we can not ride our new snowmobiles.

But tomorrow the temps in the 40's, and no big snow storms in the future.

    My spyder is in hibernation.

We are waiting for "mother nature " to corporate.

    OK, so let's see ....... 47 + 40 = 87 Multiply by 9/5. 87 x 9/5 = 17.4 x 9 = 156.6. Subtract 40 156.6 - 40 = 116.6! Damn, that's almost hot! 116.6° F. Easy conversion between °C and °F. Add 40, multiply by 9/5 or 5/9 depending which way you're converting, and subtract 40. Man, I'm good. I still remember that from college chemistry nearly 55 years ago!!

I knew there was a formula. I have not used that one since the final exam in Algebra 101. But glad there is a conversion table on the internet.

With all the good conversion apps I must admit that i have gone over to the dark side and forgotten so many useful formulas. Had to do a simple sq ft to acres the other day and my mind kept telling me its 46,530 sq ft per acre. Nope 43,560. Maybe I'm just getting old.
