There are a couple of, I believe accepted but not clearly spelled out, exceptions to that rule. One is when a US Navy vessel is in port in a foreign country the host nation's flag may remain at full mast even if the US flag is at half mast, say, to honor a deceased President. This is spelled out in military regs. Another case is when flags of the US and other nations are regularly flown in a place such as a cemetery. At the times the US flag is to brought to half-mast to honor soldiers or a national leader, the foreign flag does not need to be lowered. It's this nation, not the other one, that is showing respect for the deceased. This is not specifically addressed in the flag code so the military reg is used for guidance.
Naturally many people disagree with this position, particularly those who hold onto an absolute "America first" policy.
Of course neither of these situations apply to our Spyders so the US flag should ALWAYS be on the right or in the middle when we're riding!

There was a change to the flag code years ago. In an auditorium the rule used to be the US flag was to right of the speaker if it was on the stage above the audience floor, and to the right of the audience if it was on the audience floor. The code was changed so now the flag is to the right of the speaker regardless of whether it is on the stage or on the floor.

This matches Boy Scout posting of the colors also. I gotta admit whenever my Scouts lead the flag raising ceremony at Camp Wolfeboro and they get the steps right and it’s crisp and precise, and they really nail it, I feel pretty damn proud.
Ok, that was WAAAY off topic, sorry.
