Many here have the F4 brand and it's a good one. I had good experience in the past with 7Jurock and I have their 16" with a flip. Low enough to see over, yet good wind protection.

IMHO, a very difficult question to answer because windshield choice is very personally-dependent, much like seat choice, and depends on a number of variables; what works for some, just won't suit another. Things to consider:
- do you want to look over or through your shield?,
- do you need it to be adjustable?
- do you want absolutely no buffeting/no wind noise? or are you able to tolerate some?
- are you using, or do you intend to use, a closely fitted/tailored cover?
- do you want vented or not vented?
- do you want clear, or tinted? are you riding at night, or mostly just days?
- are you likely to change your seat after you choose your windshield? seat height change may
affect desired shield performance,
- is cost a factor?
For a range of opinions by other SL owners, see previous posts:

I have personally tried a number of options - BRP stock 'sport' shield; 23" tinted F4; BRP 'Tall Boy'; back to BRP 'sport' with X-creen 'Tour' add-on; and once again F4 (this time 21" with added wind wings). Still testing this 5th attempt to find the 'best' choice. The BRP 'sport' is breezy; some find it quite tolerable and enjoy some wind. The F4 is so far the quietest, most comfortable. The 23" was too tall for me personally (at 5' 10"), but others go even taller. Personal preference important here - look through/look over?. Also, the F4 shields are wide, so closely fitted/tailored BRP covers won't fit properly, unless altered. I found the BRP 'Tall Boy' noisy and unsatisfactory; personal preference important here again; others love 'em. The BRP 'sport' shield with added X-creen is more effective at reducing buffeting than without, and pushes air more above and to sides, but still leaves some cooling breeze to chest and arms; nice for hot weather ryding. A recent trade brought me a 21" F4 clear, which I'm now trying out. I have added Wind Wings to it and expect this will reduce air flow and almost all buffeting, making things far more pleasant for my pillion passenger. I may yet try Lamonster's 'Freedom' shield; it intrigues me. Or 7Jurock, or possibly CalSci. There's a broad range of choices, endless variables and a whole lot of personal preference issues involved. Your solution will take perseverance and $$. Good luck in the search.

I am looking for a windshield as well for my 19 F3L. I’m only 5’5” and was considering the F4 21” vented but I’m afraid it will be too tall as I want to look over the windshield. Madstad makes an 18” shield but it does not come vented. I ride 2 up and my passenger gets buffeted, she says she’s getting use to it, but I do want her to be comfortable so we can take longer rides!
Anyone have any comments or tips for us vertically challenged riders?

F4 measures vertically from the tank and I find that confusing. 7Jurock and some others measure the w/s from top to bottom along the w/s centerline. My F3L came with a 12" w/s which is way too low. So I took a piece of cardboard and a couple cushioned spring clips and attached it to top of the w/s and rode around a bit (yeah it looked dorky) until it was at the height I wanted and took a measurement. For me, it was 16". If the w/s maker you order from offers a flip, go for it. That make for a huge improvement in turbulence control.

I’m 5’4” and I didn’t want to look through a windshield, so I ordered the shortest one from Madstadt, I think it’s 16”. It’s adjustable, and I have it in the lowest position and angled back all the way. I look just over it and get no buffeting below around 60 mph. Not sure how a passenger would feel it. If I need to travel on the highway, I could adjust it higher, but I just add an X-creen Tour on top (that also at it’s lowest position) and then get no buffeting. I’ve ridden that configuration up to 85 or so (I don’t like to go faster than that), and the air around my head is quiet. Good luck.

I’ve been looking online and Lamonster has a 15” and a 17” and Madstad has an 18”. Based on what I have read on other posts, I think the 21” will be too high. The Madstad is adjustable by 2” based on their website info. I think I’ll go with the Madstad.
I’m a pretty conservative ryder, but got up to 90 mph to keep up with a friend the other day
Thanks,
Ardelle

I'm 5' 51/4"
I had F4 cut my shield down to 20". It was perfect !!
Plenty of sight over the windshield and air flow is an inch over my head.
I got the wings also. They are amazing.

I would look at Madstad windshields. My wife has one for her RT, her second different one. They make an adjustable version that is really nice.

We also have this combo and I am amazed at how much it can block airflow when needed, but open the wings up and you get a lot of air flow. It's perfect for hot and cold days as well as keeping the rain off. Wish I could put this on my F3s!

I am going to be watching this thread close. Just bought the F3 and was going to give the OEM a thousand mile test or so.
Normally, I go with a tall windshield, but like to look over it. Going to also add a vented this go around.

If you use F4 windshield. Do or don't reuse original chrome from F3 limited??

just my 2 cents on the madstad windshield system. i had a victory cross country and tried different windshields on it including the "flip" windshield. none fixed buffeting at speed. i also didnt like the "flip" at the top. i did not like the distortion it created as far as the wavy line across the top of the windshield. i tried the madstad windshield system after the experience with all the other windshields. as far as my cross country, it was the fairing model. the bracket system mounts the windshield off the fairing a small amount. i also liked the adjustability of the angle and height. as others have said, everyones needs are different. short, tall , some like a little wind, some not, the madstad system allows for all of the variables. and it did fix the buffeting problem. the airstream i adjusted for was for a smooth airstream just a small one for helmet venting. i was very satisfied.

I tried the Madstad on my "17 Base model F3. It had a light tint - wider and taller than standard.
I found that at highway speeds it was not as stable as I thought it should be. Also it allowed a lot of wind to hit me
around my knees and lap .
I have tried a modified RT windshield and also one from a Goldwing.
None of them seem as good as the F4 that I bought from this site used. Don and his crew were very nice dealing with me while purchasing the hardware also.
Don't have an awful lot of miles on the F4 but it has proven to be well worth the sost.
My 2 cents worth !
