Winter Battery Storage
Is there any problem with disconnecting and bringing the battery inside for the winter sleep?
I’m questioning if I am hurting something having the battery disconnected for 5+ months, maybe with the display or key or . . . ?
I will connect it to a battery tender.
Thank you

That is a good idea and it won't hurt anything. Also a good idea to top up the charge, if you have a charger, before putting it away.

I guess if you like the labor, go ahead and bring it in...you DID say it would be on a tender regardless right?
So you can tell where I kind of stand on it. Of course I wouldn't want to lose any preset functions like clock etc,
but I am notoriously lazy.

A very good ( & car smart ) friend of mine has Always stored His batteries inside His house over the winter on a smart charger ( ie a maintainer type ) …. He has had numerous batteries that have gone over 10 years old on numerous occasions ( over the past 50 years ) …. Batteries that I have purchased DRY and then filled and properly done the initial charge have gone 8 plus years ….. good luck …. Mike

Back in the 1960's I would remove the batteries from my bikes and bring them in the house for storage. Did not have any garage in those days. Bike sat in a metal outbuilding.
Move ahead to 2000. Bought battery tenders and added heated garage. Ride the bike for at least a half hour, add stabilizer to a full tank of gas, park the bike for the season, put battery tender on. Start up in the spring and drive.
No engine warm ups recommended unless you are going to take it out for at least a half hour drive.
It is your choice...either option will work fine.

i brought it inside. really quite easy to remove.
i was concerned about lack of power creating problems beyond loosing station presets. i assume there is some NVRAM to maintain the critical settings like mileage and key programing.
i brought in the seat(s) to protect against rodents and stuffed metal scrubbies in the exhaust and air intake. parked on corrugated plastic etc.
