Also worth a look. Any good DIY or not https://www.clcboats.com/teardrop the weight can probably be trimmed & balanced little better hopefully.

I wonder if that wouldn't be a case of the tail wagging the dog. Even if it made it under the weight limit, I would wonder about a strong crosswind moving the whole rig sideways.

I built this camper 4 years ago and have towed over 10,000 miles. This picture is on the Dragon. Weighs 600 lbs with our gear. Its 4' x 8' and 4' high.

Maybe you have read what I have said previously about Towing MORE than 400 lbs. …. It's not what you can TOW …. it's about how much further you will travel when STOPPING ……. please be safe ….. Mike

That's 50% over BRP's recommended max, which is based primarily on STOPPING power above other considerations. Are you recommending ignoring OEM specs?

I used a Harbor Freight Trailer. They now make an aluminum trailer that will cut the weight by 69 pounds.

The original question was "Anyone tow a little camper, hard sided not a pop up?"
I'm not recommending anything. I commented on what the question was.

I think the problem with hard sided camping trailers is the weight. And the windage.
