Has anyone tried installing interior straps for the saddlebags? Just in case the lid pops open it would be a good idea to have the gear strapped in. I know there are bags but then you have to get the bag out to find what you're looking for and the straps will hold stuff in place but allow you to see where it all is.

I have spent a lot of my free time trying to find something that is available. So far no luck. Maybe a do it yourself winter project at home for me. Such a simple safe guard for a saddlebag popping open.
There are mesh nets available for the outer lids but on the inside you don’t have screw points to work with. I had a test bije in 14 and the side cases came open frequently but on my personal Spyders I have never had one open while riding.

Not sure if it would work or not but how about this. Goto Harbor freight and buy the larger motocycle helmet net. The s hooks snap off. Then goto the auto store and buy plastic eyelid cable anchor or here is an example of ones from a hardware but are probably to stiff. Same idea. Remove the screws I have depicted, screw them back in over the eyelids that are wrapped around the ends of the motorcycle helmet net. Might work. I never had one pop open but I can see if my BRP saddle bag insert did come open it would suck to have it fly out at 70. Just a thought
As a side note. I was thinking about this. I’d rather it fly out than have some type of tether that the bag could be pulled into the rear wheel. All hell would break loose then. I’d rather it fly out. I don’t think the door would rip off just lose everything.

My '99 BMW RT had elastic retaining straps inside the saddlebags, just as you are describing. You might see if you can order those parts from them. Might have to drill some small holes to install them. FWIW, I've also had my saddlebags pop open, and I think something like this would be a great idea.
Lots of ideas to work on for the cooler months. I did a 507 mile ride this last weekend and stuffed the bags with rain gear, cold gear and whatever and they were really stuffed! Was a bit concerned that if a bag lid popped open all would be lost. Will post a solution if I figure it out.
