The so-called "temporary" spare has a speed rating of 81 MPH. Since the weight on it will be minuscule compared to both a 4 wheeler application and its actual weight rating, it will be bulletproof in a mere Ryker application.

The traction and handling will be inferior to a full time tire.

I have it set to 20-20-25 and it stopped jumping around. I was not aware tire pressure is so important.

Running temp spares on a bike with sensitive steering is kinda like running speed laps barefoot on rubber crutches. Forget the basic universal tread and inferior construction and don't forget they usually don't have a lot of tread depth or longevity.

They also tend to run hot due to less sidewall flex at 60psi. Lowering the pressure would make for a softer ride, but less control due to inferior sidewall construction.

It's almost like they're designed to fail if run outside the stated speed, distance, or load. For folks trying to save some bucks, DO expect them to wear a lot faster than a real tire. I'd pass.

Be interested in the theory behind the Rally's lower pressure requirements for the majority of folk who seldom do any off road. Typically you'd reduce the pressure for serious off road, but jack up the PSI on pavement ...

Temporary spares have next to no tread and the walls are super thin. I check my car spare (pressure 60 psi!) frequently, and add air frequently. They lose pressure faster than the "real" tires, I suspect the air just migrates through the sidewalls faster...
