I have 7000 miles on mine and no problems so far.

Never heard of that.
Is it still under warranty? Do you have the BEST warranty? It's made by Can-Am so you likely have easy recourse if it's falling apart.
Many here have the hindle and I haven't heard of any falling apart....

It's actually made by Hindle for Can-Am. Check their website: http://www.hindle.com/indexroad.html

I got my hindle in April I don't know how many miles but the heat shield is rattling around.

I understand your frustration. I drilled out the rivets, used nuts and stainless steel bolts but they still loosen up. I also tried rubber washers but every type thus far have melted. If I figure soomething out I will for sure let you know.

Rivet's
Drill out the old rivet's and put in new one's. You can find the rivet's and drill bit all in one kit on line. That's what I did.

No luck with my dealer since it was purchased used.
Its getting worse. I went for a ride today and it appears that fiberglass or some other sort of material is coming out of the seam????

Hindle
I've seen mufflers do what you describe when excessive backfiring has occurred. Some will split open like a ripe watermellon.

I have over 15K on mine and not having any problems at the moment.

My front shield has the loose rivets - other than that it's fine. I don't think the BEST warranty will cover the hindle as it an aftermarket add-on (even though it came from BRP). I can't remember what the warranty on the Hindle was.

I actually checked my hindle after the discussion here and I did notice that the shield has loose rivets...not enough to cause a problem, but the shield does seem to loosen...I yanked on it a good bit and think it's still secure.
As far as the rest of the pipe goes, it's solid...

Well it sounds like the consensus is that they are solid pipes and mine is an anomaly other than the heat shield issues.

I know what you mean. I have almost 18,000 miles on my spyder, my shield thats over the pipe part thats right below where your foot sets, it was rattling ever time I would get on the throttle. When I had my bike customized, the guy took it off and drilled out the wholes and put hex screws and I haven't had a problem since. The shield that is directly over the Hindle can't be drilled out. It rivits directly to the pipe.
Before you buy a new pipe read this thread on after market pipes. http://westcoastspyder.com/forum/vie...php?f=15&t=293
Also beware that certain cities here in CA are giving $600 fix it tickets for after market pipes. ALL AFTER MARKET PIPES ARE ILLEGAL IN CA. We can get away with Hindle because it says Can Am on it.

Thanks for looking out. Maybe someday we will have the chance to meet. That would be cool.
You mentioned that the shield over the pipe cant be drilled out? Mine came out without a problem
I tried the hex head screws with locknuts on the shield over the can but they still loosen up. Perhaps your guys used locktite? I was going to try that if it happens on the next one. I am all but convinced between CA law and warranty issues, the Hindle is probably the only option for me other than stock.
I would like to thank everyone again for the help and input. I really appreciate it.

Thank you Scotty, I guess I should try something else.
Do you have any suggestions?

I'm not aware of any locking compounds that hold up at high temps. Muffler repair compound may do it for a while. Beyond that there are mechanic means of some kind, lock washers, serrated head screws, or well fastened rivets. For now, you might try shimming the loose areas with a wedged in shim.

JB weld would hold up to the heat.

I haven't shot the temp on that part of the pipe yet but I'll bet it's below 500 degrees. I'll shoot as soon as my gaskets get here. I just bought a used Hindle too so I can get a true reading on that pipe.

I forgot to add that the reason I suggested JB weld is I used it on my fluxcore welding nozzles to protect the cups and tips. The radiant heat was well over 1000 degrees and it held up pretty darn good.

I wasn't sure what the temps would be out on the Hindle but I threw this out there so someone would maybe check into it more before they used it. Next question, would you use JBWeld or either of the two Permatex products as a thread locker?
I just looked up loctite and the blue threadlocker is good for -65° to 300°
