    Default Crankshaft Position Sensor

    Good Morning,

2010 RTSM5. I am getting an intermittent condition of the bike not starting. It can go days being fine and then it won't start. Then it will. And when it starts it runs great. I was able to pull the code P0335, crankshaft position sensor. So my questions. Where do i find it? How can I test it? If I have to replace it do I need BUDS or just pop in the new one. I have read it could be loose or dirty connections. Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks Jeff

Can not answer your question on the spyder. However - on a normal two wheeler that sensor gets coated with a carbon build up - and can be wiped clean. (it is a magnet) about 1 inch long. Or replaced for about $16.
Usually accessed from the exterior of the bike. Good luck hunting for it. Let us know..

Hey Jeff. There's no mention in the shop manual for needing BUDS to initialize it. Seems to be plug and play. Yes, first try electrical cleaner on the connector first. Good Luck.

remove it and look for metal filings if it's magnetic like many others. They weaken the pulse produced by it and can be intermittent at first.
