We have been on multiple multi week trips the longest being 40 days. We pack the same whether it be a weekend trip or 40 day trip. For me I wear wicking type pants and shirts, so one is packed and one is being worn. What takes the most space up for us is the electronics We [ahhh I should say Me] carry. Laptop, CPAP machine, 2 cameras, battery charges, wires, etc etc. For clothes each of us gets one compression bag and that's it. If you really need it and you didn't pack it, there is a store someplace near by generally. We have never used an external storage device on any of our trips for the RT or the FJR or the Connie.

We have a waterPROOF duffle that gets strapped to the trunk rack. Works great. When stopping for lunch, helmets and suits come in with us; everything else stays on the Spyder.

Many 6 month deployments packed into a navy seabag, one or two weeks on a RT is a breeze! They sell underwear and socks everyday.

On the 2020 RTL, the antenna doesn't interfere with the rack.

So Bill you started this thread a year ago. Did you take that trip? I don't remember a report on it. How was it? Did your wife enjoy it? If you still need packing advice, just remember your Goldwing days. You have more space on the Spyder.
Igive the Frunk and the deep saddlebag to my wife, the small side and that part of the trunk not used for tools and spare gloves is mine. I put rain gear and my Cpap on the rack. There is only one rule, when your space is gone, you are done. I don't tell my wife what to bring or not to bring. I give her her space and she can fill it as she sees fit. The first time I showed her how I pack, made a couple of suggestions and she did pretty good. Good luck on your travels.

No problems with the tour pack cracking or breaking? That seems a lot to put on those tour packs.

Not really. I'm putting underwear in there, not bricks. Groceries and heavier things go in the saddle bags or front trunk.
Also, the RT Limited trunk is not the same as the old F3 trunk.
They look the same, but the lid is much heavier on the RT Limited.

Unfortunately I did not make that trip to TN yet, but Millie and had that discussion this very morning for early October. Trip up to Marietta GA for few days with my daughter, then off to Kodak (Sevierville) TN, I do not know if that will happen, but's fun to think about. I think the packing is gonna work out, we did a 3 day trip to Destination Daytona last weekend for TrikeFest and we had room to spare, that is saying a lot. Man, what a dream ride compared to my to my GW/RoadSmith. Constant rain all the way back home, but I didn't care, it was just fun. By the way, that's on You Tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxHYUhhf1Zc&t=1115s, if you want to take a look. Millie and I made a few moments in there about 18 mins in I believe. Had to chuckle at your comment, "I don't tell my wife what to take". I can relate, but she does a great job, if I did it, I leave half my stuff behind just because I forgot it. That means a trip to Walmart, and I don't like that.

speaking seriously on the subject, I agree with those who put on the table what they "need", then select half and then half of the rest.
In any case, I admit that it is not easy to make my wife not carry her own hair dryer. :-)
