Default Oil change - can I fill thru filter hole?

Good evening, I'm about to put the oil back in my 2013 rt snd I always wondered if you can pour the bulk of it into the filter hole instead of the dipstick hole. Thanks, mike

There is no way I can think of that this would work. It is my understanding that the dry-sump holds only about 1 quart of oil. The reservoir holding the rest. Not sure why you would want to do it that way.

Get a large plastic funnel with a spout small enough to just fit the dipstick hole.

That's what I always do, I guess I'm just impatient and I was in the garage at night with poor lighting. Just gettin old I guess.

Has anyone ever thought about putting a hole in the tupperware so's you could get to the filter without removing so much, esp those dang mirrors. Thanks, Mike

Agreed. I've never had much trouble filling after an oil change. I think it would be much more problematic trying to fill a horizontal filter hole than a vertical tank.

There is only a few bolts and a couple of push pins to pop the whole side off mine.......... 2019 F3-S. 10 minutes at most to take it off.

So you haven't fitted 'Magic Mirror Mounts' yet??

I've had them for a fairly long time now, and I still find myself just taking the Mirrors off & letting them jump back on for the helluvit, cos it's so quick'n easy!

It's even more fun doing that if there's other Spyder Ryders around who haven't seen/heard of them! They get the horrors on first seeing the 'one handed removal', thinking I've just ripped a mirror right off Then the horror turns to absobloodylute amazement when they see the mirror goes back on even easier!

It's often just the little things that make for the most enjoyment....

How often do you change oil? For most people 4,600 miles or 9,300 if it’s a 2014, doesn’t happen that often. It’s just a few panels.

The was my 19,000 a little late. I'm just used to my car where just just pour it in and it takes it as fast as you can give it to her. Just did one car and ready to do the next. Gotta change the fuel and air filter on the spyder yet. Might do the magic mirrors-heated seat and gas door and stage 2 this winter when I put her down. Thanks, Mike
