We've watched seven episodes, finale tonight. I've really learned a lot about CM history and have found the series typical Ken Burns quality.
Artillery lends dignity to what would
otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

Slightly off topic but I'm very curious about where the Git Up and Old Town Road are going to take Country or cause another branch off Country from its roots. I'm not a huge country guy but i like a good song no matter the genre so I do enjoy listening to the music and some groups. Crossroads when they have artists on I like I think is a great show, (one of the best was Lindsay Buckingham and Little Big Town) but back to topic. i can't help but think these two songs are going to start another redefinition of what "country" can mean. If it sells it'll get made and kids buy music (well they steal a bunch too but setting that aside) if the record companies think it will sell it will get made, but is it country?

A very interesting subject. One of the neat things about the genre is that it has gone through many, many iterations. I am currently NOT a fan of the current stuff (wearing a cowboy hat and singing pop does not do it for me)...but give it a year or two and it may take another turn. I liked it best when it had that soulfull pedal steel guitar with it.
Right now, Bluegrass is the closest. No pedal steel guitar currently. You have to go back to Jim & Jesse McReynolds for that.

I'm not a big country music fan, but a BIG Ken Burns Fan. I watched every minute of this series and thought that it was excellent - music included. It's gotten me to appreciate Country Music (however you wish to define it) much more than I had before watching the series.
I'm with ARtraveler though -- I much prefer the classic (ie - older) music than its current iteration.
