    While technology in electric vehicles is getting more impressive by the day, I would rather see a Spyder with a two or three cylinder diesel, a drive shaft and about 2" better ground clearance. You would then have just about the most perfect open air traveling machine. It would likely get at least 60mpg (probably more), fewer worries about belt failures, vibration and adjustments and the ability to go over small speed bumps without fear of scraping hard parts on the pavement.
