Default Tire help needed in Tennessee

    Hi all,
I have friends traveling through cookeville Tennessee and their 2014 RTL blew a rear tire and are in need of a tire change. They are trying to meet us in Jackson Wyoming and this is a major setback as nothing is open this Labor Day weekend. Any thoughts or suggestions would greatly be appreciated
    Thank you

Looked up the Walmart in Cookeville, TN. They have 2 tires that list as in stock, a 205/60R15 and a 215/60R15, both by Douglas. Not a preferred tire by any means, but it beats walking. Now he needs a shop that can get the tire on.

    Or maybe wait until Tuesday?

If he can get the rear wheel off then maybe Walmart would mount it for him. Or put out a call on NABR on Facebook and maybe someone in the area can help him. (North American Biker Rescue)

Try an ISO for an individual with a tire changing machine on nextdoor.com.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. They found a tire but unfortunately can’t find any help putting the tire on. I will pass the information given on to them and keep you updated. BTW, the rear tire was the original with only 2,000 miles on it. I recommended a car tire which they bought

Hey CKW, if they can either take the rear wheel off the Spyder themselves, maybe find an open tire outlet nearby to do that, or possibly contact a nearby Spyder owner who can help?? Once the rim is off the Spyder, just about any tire fitting outlet should be able to fit the new tire onto the rim! Or maybe that handy nearby Spyder Owner might have the basic gear & skills necessary to do it for them, or know someone who does?! After all, the wheels on our Spyders really ARE just car tires on car rims, the only difference is that they've got a little different hub arrangement on the rear or smaller holes in the middle of the fronts, neither of which will be any issue for removing/refitting a tire, altho those might be a bit of an impediment for anything more than basic balancing. Still, most well known brand name tires won't usually need much in the way of balancing, usually it's just a matter of aligning the red or yellow dots as appropriate when the tire is fitted!

So I guess we can put it out there, surely there's a Spyder Ryder out there somewhere nearby who can help, even if it's just with locating a tire fitter who's open, or someone who can remove & refit a tire?!

C'mon fellow Spyder Lovers, can't someone help??

Go NABR on facebook and put out what they need. There has got to be someone in that are of Tennessee with a tire machine or al least a set of tire levers and a compressor.

Yeah, but I think the big problem is going to be getting the wheel off while on the road, Paul......and if it is not done in a CanAm shop, alignment and belt tension on refit could be a struggle.

What about Spyders to the Rescue from the home page? Several members within a hundred miles or so.

actually not a problem. Wheel can be removed without disturbing either tension or alignment. See you tube video by finless bob.

Yeah, the tension and alignment can indeed be done without disturbance for those who know, Paul, but this couple are on the road and unlikely to find an experienced Spyder rider or shop who knows all that. Another concern is the 168 ft/lbs required to release and refit the axle bolt on the post 2013 models. That is the overall struggle to which I was referring. Fingers crossed they have found a solution by now.

So they got in the dealership first thing yesterday morning and the tire was changed by 4:30pm, they are now on their way. Hopefully we will meet up with them Wednesday/Thursday in chamberlain SD and continue on to Wyoming and Montana.
