Default Hurricane Dorian - stay safe!

I was just watching the 'real-time' vid of Hurricane Dorian approaching Florida.

From where I'm sitting it looks pretty intense, hope you all stay safe & dry!

    Default Rough....

lived in Florida three times. Central close to Orlando west coast Tampa and east coast west Palm beach and went through a number of hurricanes. I grew up in South America and now live in California and have been through many earthquakes nd have to say...I'll take earthquakes over other disasters the waiting and watching is the worst part...'s it takes a turn to the ocean and y'all only get wet....

Yeah, I am sitting here in Florida waiting for it to decide where it wants to go. Ain't real worried about it. I have been living in Florida for about 70 years. Been through 40 or 50 hurricanes. It is just another day in paradise, with wind and water.

Currently, got all the other family members stuff prepped as needed. Today will get our house and yard prepped.

As is typical, so many people are already in panic mode.

The latest is showing Dorian is going to head up the coast and not smack into FL head on. Now they are predicting landfall in the Carolina's.

I was watching the storm news on TV. That is an unbelievably tightly formed hurricane. They are the worst for causing damage.

A group of " Swift Water rescue team" from VT. and some members of the Vermont Red Cross are headed down to Florida, to help.

    Everyone stay safe.

FWIW, often people believe that track is the defined track the storm will take. Consider if you ever watched a weather report and it was wrong, these guys give a best educated guess...

That's one reason that the 'spaghetti tracks' that show where a storm might go are often more helpful than the graphics released by the media, as the closer & tighter the bundle of spaghetti tracks becomes, the more likely they are to have one in the bunch that gets it right!

Still, I see it's gone Cat 5 now, & the images from space show a pretty solid mass of storm! Add to that the storm surge reports & rain levels dumped on the Bahamas, it looks increasingly like even a 'glancing blow' from this storm could be really nasty!!

So for anyone in the area, bring your Spyder inside, batten down the hatches, and here's more hopes & that you all stay safe & dry!

10:00 PM NHC report says still at 185mph and moving west at 5mph.

Getting closer... the image is from weatherunderground NEXRAD radar. The white + is the radar station. We live about 2 miles east of the white +.

It's been downgraded to a cat 4, still a very powerful and dangerous storm. Went thru Michael last oct, an experience I hope never to have to go thru again. out to all in Dorian's path.
