AMAZING
Sums up the Spyder Fever weekend. From the home cooked food, to the trips across the Iowa countryside, to the fellowship everynight. This rally is pure AMAZING.
The NISR (Nebraska Iowa Spyder Riders) know how to do it up right.
The town of Manning, Iowa proclaimed friday as "Syder Fever Day" with a Spyder parade led by the mayor and then lunch for all. The host hotels (Country Inn and suites, My Place) were very accommodating. The fellowship decorations that changed every night for supper and we don't need to even talk about the amazing food.
Thanks to all the sponsors for the giveaways. In the next couple weeks checkout the Spyder Fever websites for all the pictures and check out the sponsors and support them. This was my 3rd Syder Fever rally and they keep getting better and better. If you were at this rally share your pictures
Thanks to NISR for an amazing weekend

If it's anything at all close to the organization and friendliness of RAGBRAI, it would be first rate and top notch. A buddy and I did RAGBRAI in 1997 and had a blast. We met the friendliest people in the world in Iowa and learned civility still lives. Maybe next year!
On the road again...........and forever young!

Thanks for sharing. I contemplated attending but waited too late - the event was booked up. That is definitely a good sign - maybe I can decide earlier next year and make the trip.

Thanks so much for your positive comments on our rally!!! Karen was thrilled by the many requests for recipes for the Waikiki Meatballs, coconut bread, Hawaiian potato mac salad, tie-dyed fudge and the red/white and blue bars!! All these can now be found on our Spyderfever.com website under the Recipes tab. Looking forward to having you again at our next rally!!

What is almost doubly astounding is meeting people in a town that is hosting RAGBRAI a couple of weeks before the event is due to hit. They are so excited that the event is coming and, of course, the expectations of revenue are very big in small towns that normally don't see more than a few bicyclists each summer. I rode through one in 2008 on a transcontinental trip and some folks suggested I hang around for a couple of weeks to wait for the event.
Artillery lends dignity to what would
otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

Attended this rally last year. Lots of fun. Wasn't able to attend this year due to scheduling conflicts. Next year, hoping to get there again. Great people and great time.
The event was pretty good. It was our first year. We know some people in IA and we pretty much did our own thing all wknd. The riding in IA leaves a little to be desired though. I suppose we're spoiled being from southwest WI. with all sorts of terrain options to be had in a day. Straight roads with small rolling hills, with beans and corn gets old... LOL...But, if the event makes up for it, then ya got something going for ya.

It may very well have been worth waiting for! There's something magical about watching a town of say 500 population swell to around 10,000 for several hours. You are quite right about the shot in the arm that RAGBRAI gives to individuals and organizations of all types as the ride moves east across Iowa. Anybody with a desire to make some money can be found all along the route selling goods or wares.
The closest analogy I can come up with would be the original Woodstock. Thousands of people from all over the U.S. as well as many other countries riding and eating their way across Iowa and having a great time in the process. Makes me want to do it again before I die!
