I'm a big fan of Novus plastic cleaner. It works great and the price is hard to beat.

I'm quite tall (6'-6") and I bought one of these and with the W/S all the way up I look between them and haven't had many, if any, bugs or pebbles fly thru the opening. It's much cheaper than a new W/S.

+1 on the Plexus, great product. To clean windshield, it is easy if you lay a soaped wet rag (t shirt) on the shield for 10 or 15 minutes. Bugs come off easily.
FYI Windshields on motorcycles are meant to be looked over, not through. According to National Cycle, (largest producer of aftermarket motorcycle windshields) you should be looking 1.5 to 2" over the top of your shield. I am not tall, so I have cut off every windshield that I ever had.

The stock windshield is made from MR10 which is a polycarbonate. At F4 Customs we provide a polycarbonate windshield which we bake in a proprietary hard coating with a UV inhibitor that greatly reduces the attacking on the shield from the sun. Also this coating provides great rain shedding and seals the shield so it can we cleaned with any glass cleaner and paper towels.

Sounds like a great replacement! For now, I've decided to live with the sparkles on/in my windshield. I'm hoping that they haven't weakened the structure so that it implodes/explodes. :-) The sparkles are only an issue when I'm at just the right angle to the sun, and I can always lower the windshield and look over it.

I finally gave up trying to see through all the "sparkles", and bought a new windshield. It was incredibly easy to remove the old one, and install the new one! The new one has "vents" which don't cause any additional wind flow on the rider, but do seem to calm down the buffeting from wind gusts and 18 wheelers. :-)

That's the same thing that popped into my mind when I read his post. Had exactly the same thing happen to my windshield way way back when I was stationed at Edwards AFB in the Mojave Desert. Windshield was sand blasted by the desert sand.

To solve the "sparkles" problem, I replaced the windshield. I got it from SlingMods.com for about $170. The windshield is a Show Chrome Wide Clear SM6143 Touring model. It was easy to remove the old and install the new! I made a "slip on cover" for it, so when its parked in the yard, I can cover the windshield and protect it from the ultra-bright and strong sun light we get here in NC. :-) Here's a pic of the old windshield with the sparkles clearly showing:

No problem...here it is, installed and ready to go:

There are two vent holes over the black areas. They don't put any more air on the rider, but they do reduce the buffeting fro wind gusts, semis, etc.

I have used Plexus for years with very good success. When I wash my bikes I never use anything but a microfiber towel and Plexus on my windscreens.
