Did the dealer say why it needed a new engine? What in the engine is broken? Does it run?

I agree. What was the dealer's diagnosis and estimate details? It may not be as serious as an entire engine replacement.

Said it needed a new engine and cost could be as much as $10,000. Floored me. Rather than risk a used engine I purchased a new 2018 RT Limited.

Did you purchase the new 2018 from the dealership that told you your 2012 needed a new engine? If you did maybe you better watch out or shop for a B.E.S.T. extended warranty. Of course if you don't want to share why you sere simply told the '12 needed a new engine that's your business.

    Probably a wise move IMO.

    Default Tough one....

if all we have to go on is the dealer telling you you need a new engine.... it is hard to say much. Parting out the spyder will be tough and you will end up with too much and finding someone that wants one with no working engine could take some time. Good luck.... there must be someone who has the reverse issue with a damaged unit with a good engine....
