Default 2019 F3 Limited Auxiliary Music Source

I've been exploring all options for music, including what others are using. When trying out both an iPod and an mp3 player connected via the 3.55mm plug/jack, I get nothing. No content visible on the display, no sound, no nothing. I verified that the devices were powered on, that "Aux" was selected in the menu as the source, and that the devices themselves were playing music. The 4th generation iPod Touch that I previously used on my 2014 RT could be a compatibility issue, but I have tried two different mp3 players with the same negative results. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Found the problem and solution. Had to turn the music on at the auxiliary device first, due to the limited functionality of the bike's onboard controls when using that source option. I'm not sure, however, if that would be the case if using a newer iPod or not.

Connected via the 35mm jack, but I've settled on either using an mp3 player or my phone. I was just exploring all options.

Thank you. Again, mine is an old 4th generation Touch. I had only bought it (refurbished) to use on our 2014 RT.

Use the USB with your iPod (any version). It will give you a readout and will respond to the handlebar controls. It works with my son's original hard drive iPod 1 to my 5th gen nano.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's not working like that for me, however, even when connected via USB.

Where are you connecting it via USB? If it's in the trunk, it won't work. I think you have to have it plugged in to the USB port in the dash cubby.

On a 2018 or 19 model plugging into the ipod into the usb cable. Does not work. It is redesigned to work work with smart phone. So the OP is correct. If he wishes to use his ipod. He has to plug into the 3.5 mm aux cable and set the source to aux.

Plugged into the USB in the front dash storage box. It does not work. Thanks for your reply just the same.

For anyone having issues with music playing from a USB stick, please be advised that the stick needs to
be formatted fat32, NTFS will not work on these bikes.

The OP is talking about a 2019 model. So a stickusb no matter the format will not work.

Connecting via the 3.5mm jack is strictly analog, not digital, so no display of content or playback state is possible. The Spyder audio system via analog is no different from using wired headphones or earbuds out of the iPod, phone or other portable player.
