I feel if the state required me to get a class M motorcycle license to ride a Spyder it is considered a motorcycle Legally by the state. Therefore I can legally park in a motorcycle spot.

Agree that taking two spots is wrong, however if the Spyder fits between the painted lines designating the parking spot, in a moto parking zone, the Spyder gets parked there.
My obvious gauge is the lines painted on the ground.

If riders of bikes with sidecars and trike conversions can park in motorcycle only spots, so can we.

My Spyder is considered a motorcycle on my campus, so I will park in MC spots if that's all that's available. Normally, I use a full car spot, but if there isn't one available, there's a nice big (unlined) faculty motorcycle only area that I use. I try not to use the narrow lined motorcycle spots, but I wouldn't hesitate if that's all that's there. (We have ample motorcycle parking on campus.)
