Boy, there's not a lot of info to go on here. There's going to be a lot of questions coming your way in an effort to help you out. Are you able to do some of your own work? First question is which spyder do you have.

    What he said!

What colour is the smoke, does it smell of anything like oil or coolant, and is it huffing out as a cylinder fires or is it just pouring out in a steady stream??

What exactly were you doing when this smoking started? Taking off full bore from a set of traffic lights or coasting slowly along a back road with the breeze in your face & the engine just ticking over? Oh, and it could (well, might, at a stretch... ) help us to know if your 2012 Spyder (RT, RS, RSS, or what?) is a manual SM5 or a semi-auto SE5?

    Default Here's the thing..

Two possible sources for smoking... coolant and or oil. Not knowing much it is hard to say. Being used and possibly even you knowing less a good place to start would be the air box. Improper oil changes and measurements can cause oil to accumulate there and get to the throttle body fouling the plugs causing rough running and smoking exhaust. Coolant would be more of a gasket problem and harder to deal with and less likely. Of course diesel in the tank can be a cause as well...

If it is smoking some fluids have to be going down ,oil ,coolant ,or excessive gas .

Can't find anything else that could cause it, do a compression check.

Like others have asked, what kind of smoke?

Is it white like steam? Coolant problem. Check coolant level.
Is it blue and smell like oil? Oil problem. Check oil level.
Is it black like soot? Running rich.

    Let us know.

Worse case scenario is a hole in the piston top. Did you fill with Diesel by mistake?
    Those two are not connected.
OP...where are you? Pls come back and fill us in.

Smell would be the 1st step in determining the source of the smoke. Oil smells a lot different than coolant. Once you pin down the source. That will help narrow down the cause.

Most likely, if it is oil and the smoke is constant, is a broken ring as this came on suddenly. But there are other possibilities as well.

If it is coolant, I'd say a blown head gasket is the source. This can also come on suddenly with an otherwise good running engine. If it is coolant you need to stop running the engine right away. You could easily get water in the crankcase and destroy the engine.

Let us know what you find.

Have you checked the fluid levels. The fluid that is creating the smoke should be getting low.

If it is coolant, most likely the head gasket is defective.

If it is oil, could be defective rings or a small hole in the piston.
