Thanks, Billy, I just got the word from Garmin but not the version number.

Speaking of Garmin, my ZUMO 660 battery is dying (won't hold a charge) and I can't find a replacement locally. I'm being told by some "good luck, it's a Garmin only item and it's probably not supported anymore." Curious...….Has anyone had to replace their battery for this item?

Ray,
I may still have the two batteries from our 660 that died from a different cause. If I do you can have them. I should be home from our trip by Sunday. I will let you know.

I also have a ZUMO 660, and it is new to me. How do you find this battery and where it is located? Thanks.

There is a slider on the bottom of the Zumo 660. Slide it and the battery cover door will release. Take off the door and there is the battery. Also there is the usb plug you use to connect to your computer to update the firmware and maps.

Thinks out loud
Anyone else running out of memory space? On my last updates(haven't done this one).....on two 665's & one 660, I had to limit the geographical area updated, because of lack of memory space.

Install a micro SD card. Not sure the maximum size it will take. The manual should have that info.

Here's a fix for the 590 batteries which may work for 660 ones if they have a similar connector:

Fixed my 590 battery this way.

I have a garmin lNUVI40 with lifetime maps. I just purchased a 2013 RT with a ZUMO 660. I updated the firm ware, but the map update costs $49. Does anyone know if there is a way to update the ZUMO with the NUVI update?

So it appears that your ZUMO 660 does not have lifetime maps. So you either buy the lifetime map option for it or live with the way it is.

There is a fix for that. It is not the battery, it is the contacts . Here is a link that explains how to fix it. http://www.totally4bikers.com/blog/b...a-few-minutes/

Thanks for the heads up.
I used to dread these map updates. I had Frontier Communication as my internet provider.
It could take as much as 4 hours to update the maps.
I have two GPS. One for my Van and another for my Spyder.
That's 8 hours to update maps. I'd start running the update before I went to sleep and let it run all night
I changed to Xfinity about two weeks ago.
I'm doing the update now. About 30 minutes for each GPS.
WOW, what a difference.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.
