    Default Inspection sticker

Has anyone else had trouble keeping a NYS inspection sticker on their Spyder? There doesn't seem to be a surface it will stick to. Lost the first one and had to pay to have it re-inspected. This time they just put the sticker on the paperwork and told me to keep it in the bike.

They never seemed to stick to the a-arm covers...
I ended up putting mine under the left side passenger floorboards.

    Default Back in the day....

Back when I lived in Texas and inspections were a must they made a license plate back plate with a tab where the inspection sticker could be placed as it needed to be displayed at all times. You could DIY from some plastic sheet if not available....

A number of years ago, in a fit of uncommon government efficiency North Carolina did away with inspection stickers. Since the inspection and registration systems are both automated one can't renew registration of a vehicle unless it has been inspected within 90 days of the registration renewal date. Inspection stickers are real 20th Century.

Ditto with Texas. No Stickers. Just show the inspector your current insurance card. Inspection and valid insurance then gets entered into state database, and online registration renewal is a snap.

We're glad to hear that you both live in more "evolved" States...

Lousyana “stuck” with them too, just keep with insurance & registration paper work wherever you may stash it. Visibility required on cars , tucks & if you go on base. Inspectors supposed to mark large X on sticker for bikes. Simi recently got 2yr stickers available (easier to forget)

Here are several types of inspection plates available. I had a chrome one back when NC required it.

Not sure where you might attach it though.

Not 10 minutes ago I read an internet article about a Cadillac in Brooklyn, NY that finally got towed by the city after being parked in the same spot for 25 years..... and never moved. The news article mentioned that the Caddy had a current inspection sticker. Looks like displaying the sticker only becomes important when you need to get the parking LEOs off you back.....? I don't know. Never lived anywhere that required inspection sticker..... Jim

My question is what's the best way to remove a NY inspection sticker. We bought our Spyder from a private seller and still have the sticker on the lower side of the frunk. Not super noticeable but I would still like to remove it if I get a burst of energy and the time. I don't want to take a chance of damaging the finish.

Won't need the inspection sticker in Missouri until 5 years after purchase of our 2018 RTL. There was a bill in the General Assembly this year that would extend that to 10 years, but it was vetoed due to some troublesome language in a different part of the bill. I never saw the need for a seperate inspection sticker. In Missouri to renew your plates you have to have insurance, have the paperwork in order including proof of inspection form and pay the fees. Then they give you the year tabs that go on the plate and you're good until the date on the tab. They don't give you the tabs unless you have the proof of inspection, so why do you need a seperate sticker to prove it was inspected? I think some legislator has a relative in the sticker business.

We have an RT, the Missouri sticker will fit on the little winglet by the mirrors under the windshield. Probably won't look the best, but this year's sticker is the same blue color as the Spyder.

Heat the sticker up with a hair dryer or if your careful a heat gun and peal it right off, but it may come off in pieces.

NY State law requires the inspection sticker to be adhered to a "non-removable" part of the bike (such as frame, forks, etc), where it is visible. I know several people who had installed their stickers on a chromed plate that attaches with a bolt to the frame. They got tickets for that, as the sticker holder is removable. We have "random" motorcycle checkpoints by the police here in NY, where they pull over all bikes on a highway or major road and look for anything that's not legal (aftermarket loud exhaust, improperly displayed inspection stickers, no motorcycle endorsement on drivers license, etc). Problem is that they only do this to motorcycles, which is discriminatory.
My inspection sticker on the Spyder is on the left front shock, where it was applied by the dealer.
