    Default Kinda hot

Was going to take the Spyder out for a run this morning. Feels like temp is 107.3. I think I will wait till it cools down a bit (good luck).

Hot here too. Yesterday it hit 114F. This morning (now) at 10:45 AM it is 109F and getting hotter. This is our "downtime" of the year as far as riding is concerned. About 2 more months to go before it cools to good riding temps. But then we'll have 8+ months of great riding. We usually leave the desert this time of year and ride north for a month. Not in the cards this year though. Stay cool. We will get our chance for riding before you know it..... Jim

WAY to hot for this old man. 71* in the mountains above Reno now ( 11:20 in the morning) But we do get plenty of snow in the winter (when I get 40 or 50 days of skiing in.)

Went for a group ride with 20 other bikes sponsored by the local dealer this past Sunday mid-day and the outside temperature as measured by my Spyder RT Limited dash gauge peaked at 117 degrees F at 2PM. If you ride in the heat, drink lots of water before, during, and after the trip to stay hydrated and focused. Much prefer riding with outside temperatures between 40 and 80 degrees F.

116 here yesterday. Was 90 at 7am when I took off this morning. Best riding time is half hour before sunrise till about 10am. Back when I put a lot of bicycle miles in I'd leave at that time too and had one rule then, in by 10am or 110......whichever came first.

Personally, I think anything below 72 degrees F. is unfit for human habitation.

I rode a Harley Ultra Glide from SOCAl to Phoenix in July...left approx 10:AM what a mistake. I was "over exuberant" when planning this trip. The Harley was spitting oil out of everywhere...amazing I didn't warp anything but my brain! The pavement was at least 125 deg. I had to stop and HOPE for water to dump over my head every chance I got...bad rest stops etc. When I got to Phoenix I checked into a Hotel...my face was purple, I sat in the shower for an hour with cold water running on me. One of the dumber things I did in youth. Not sure what I could tolerate at this point.....maybe 90 deg for a couple of hours?

I'm tend to believe the opposite. I think any temperature much above 72 degrees is detrimental to human habitation, rational thought and retention of precious bodily fluids (with apologies to Gen. "Bat" Guano). I don't recall hearing of any people suffering from temperate climate stroke.

I wish more people thought like you do. Then, there would be far fewer moving here to Florida.

Does that mean that the snow has finally melted?

It's worse than 'kinda' hot - freezing in the morning at 59 deg, only to roast in the afternoon at 114...

I did my time in the frozen north. I'd rather be where snow is what happens on the TV when the cable goes out.
