    Smile Problems with my 15spyderF3S

Hi every one I’m having some real fun with my spyder. This spring I took it back to to the dealer I bought the bike from hoping for a bit of warranty work.anyway long story short I got screwed byThe sales manager who took me for 850 bucks on a job I thought should have been covered by warranty anyway that’s not my point of woe other than the fact it might be related to my current tale of woe you see the dealer replaced my left hand multi switch the one with the eco switch on the top of it . So today I was coming back into town from a ride out to a little town with a golf club who just happens to have a great breakfast.any way I was coming up to the first stop light when I saw the dreaded e message come you had just banged down into first gear when I realized the traffic was going a bit to fast for first gear so I quickly grabbed second gear Ant that’s when I got the emesssge so I pulled up to the stoplight I thought may be if I turn off the key the that would get rid of the e message big mistake now the bike won’t start so after getting a push down to a less noisy stret i waited for an hour for a flat bed truck to come pick me up and take me home so I have looked into my shop manual but it’s not been of much use it seemed to me that when I had the original multi function switch it a was a lot more forgiving when it came to the e meassages

Please try to be more specific. Are you saying when you tried to shift the letter E came up where the gear # is supposed to be on the instrument cluster? If so it could be the gear position sensor or even the reverse lockout switch. Will probably have to have the dealer diagnose.

It is most likely a gear position indicator issue. I have had this happen a couple times when I stopped for gas. I surmised that when starting up, I was going through the start up procedure to fast. Let things boot up properly and perhaps it will go away. Mine did.

I get that occasionally, it usually means I missed neutral and the tranny isn't in gear.

Hi there so when this happens how do you get the bike going again with my original eco switch I could start the bike any time the clutch was pulled in with my new ecoswitch the bike has to be in neutral prior to starting. I’m thinking the fellow who programmed in the new ecoswitch screwed up and didn’t do it properly I would be Interested in hearing from those of you who have seen the along with a comment on whether or not your spyder can be in gear when starting or whether ornithology it has to be in neutral prior to starting

"ornithology"... It had to be spell check kicking in. It's for the birds.
