    Default Drive belt question

    I have a 2p14 spyder rts .....i found one tooth & only one on my drive belt with about 3/16 of an inch missing on the very end of the tooth. Time to replace or is it ok to run with it like that ? There is no ragged edges or fiber strings showing...just the missing end of one tooth....thank you for your input.....😁

    I got a small pebble between the belt and sprocket on my 2013 RT Spyder. It punched a hole about 1/8 inch in diameter thru the belt. It was in from the edge about 1/4 inch.Took some careful work to push the pebble out of the belt to prevent further damage. The consensus by the mechanics was (unofficially) that it was probably OK to use. Since the Spyder was new to me I sucked it up and replaced it (about $400). I am keeping the old one as a spare since it was not something kept in stock locally. Amazing the damage a little BB sized pebble can cause!

    The drive belt for the Spyder is over-engineered for the job it has to do. It can take some abuse and keep on going just fine. Bearings for the input and output shafts... Not so much. Especially on the earlier models!

    No-one has ever reported a bearing failure on the transmission output shaft that I've seen. If you have evidence of one Ron, I'd like to see it please.

    What specifically do you mean 'input shaft'?
    The best substitute for brains & knowledge is....................silence.
