She's in the garage after coming in from Chicago. Got here after 11P EST so only had a chance to tool around the neighborhood. Will post pics and more tomorrow.
Some first glance questions:
How do I know if there is an existing skid plate on the bike? It appears to have something covering the front end but having zero experience with this bike....I cannot tell if this it factory or aftermarket.
How many keys should does the bike typically come with? I received (1) key
Thanks
If you look up some skid plate ads/pics, you will figure it out pretty quickly. It's a very clear difference when you are standing in front of one looking for a skid plate if you know what one looks like installed.

You may only get 1 key when buying used when new they come with 2. as far as skid plate from what I can see in your photo it looks like you only have the factory plate that looks like this Skid plate sl.jpg the black plate here is worn out and the front section had fingers that have been worn. Look and ckeck your and see if its in good shape i.e no cracks and not to worn.
Guys
I got the bike with the ball mount shown in the picture. Does anyone know what kit this belongs to? In other words what holder connects to the ball? How difficult is it to remove? Does it look like the original bolt is below the mount? I want a cellphone holder...is this a good option?
Opinions welcome...
PS....if anyone knows how to turn these pics so that they show correctly on the thread. Thanks
If so where can I get the cell phone holder that goes onto that ball mount?
Also, I don't think my bike came with a pigtail to connect my iPhone. Where can I get this cable? and where does it plug in? trunk?
That's a hex sided bolt with a 1" ball on top. It's compatible with RAM mounts. What you probably want is something like this which includes a double socket arm and a phone holder:
It plugs into the audio/aux port on the right side in the rear trunk. For an iPhone, you will need the iPod pigtail and an iPod to iPhone adapter. There are several older threads on these forums about this accessory connection. I don't know about the iPhone thing. I run a iPod on mine. I don't use a dash mounted phone/GPS when riding. When necessary, I run Bluetooth ear buds via my Samsung Galaxy and the phone is in my pocket. I run an iPod in the trunk all the time. I can also run 2-way radios via a hand free headset if I feel the need, but never have. The CB option is crazy expensive and doesn't work any better (at best) than good GMRS/FRS radios. Start doing a bunch of searches and reading up on the info-tainment system options on these forums. The folks here have contributed a ton of good content, including years worth of failures, trial and error, and stuff that works.

Reason: Removed link to this 'new post'...???
Question: Does the Spyder need to be lifted in order to install the SpyderPops bumpskid? If yes, what is the best way to get her in the air? I would think two-piece ramps but I am open to suggestions and opinions
Lots of ways to do it. 3 ramps method. 2 Ramps. I use a Jack and 3 jack stands. For the bump skid you can use 2 ramps if you have them. But I do like using a jack and jack stands better.

Yes that is a Ram mount. I think motorcycledave.com may have a cell phone holder to fit that. He is a sponser here and is listed on the home page. Call him and he will have the best price. Also ask him about your cable.

Since you are only working on the front you will only need 2 ramps, just run it up the ramps and you are good to go. If you have jack stands , put a floor jack under it then brace with the stands. Please do not work underneath with the jack only holding it, use jack stands or ramps.
