I remember thinking I was getting near 40 mpg when I first brought the Spyder home from Louisiana(where it was purchased). I wasn't.....LOL. On a few trips up through Washington and Oregon it has gotten 30ish. But, most of the time.............27 < not 28

How many of your "riding cohorts" really think you got a 100% increase in your gas mileage ??
At least those with whom I swapped bikes on trips, maybe they were just **** stirring too LOL.

Living in Canada and calculating my mileage from litres to imperial gallons, I am averaging 46.5 mpg over 2,750 miles. Eco mode and mostly secondary highways with maximum speed around 50 mph.

An Imperial Gallon is 1.20095045 of a U.S. gallon. Maybe call that impg. 46.5 sounds good though.

I just took a wonderful 3300 mile trip from MO to CO to WY to SD and back to MO. My first time at the Deadwood 3 Wheel Rally and I had a blast. With that said I did track my mileage on my 2013 RT-S. The worst fuel consumption was 21 MPG while my best was 34 MPG. I rode everything from 80 MPH highway to the twists and turns of mountain roads. My overall average was a tick over 27 MPG. Altitudes, speed, wind, temperature is all going to play a factor. I don't think it would be wise to assume you will get X MPG all the time and not pay any attention to your gas gauge; you may find yourself on the side of the road.

39 to 40 MPG on our last trip ( to Glacier National Park ) over 2000 miles. Did get a high of 44 on a slow trip through the park. The whole trip was two up and fully packed. Stage 1 ECU flash is great and didn't hurt the milage. A few passing of hay trucks events in the middle of nowhere reached 100 mph ( easily)
